Someone is feeding you a line of crap lol . Nobody will ever re-balance your torque converter .
I am assuming you were talking with a service writer that recently lost his employment with GM ,rather than a Toyota technician .

There are at minimum 20 posts for low fluid conditions . I try catching most of them but its time consuming .
I am trying my best to keep the Poll thread as relevant and as updated as possible . Its updated daily . All you have to do is click on the link and read the first page . I continue to edit as new information becomes available
Your best bet for new information will be at this link

Ok dropped it off last night and picked it up again today.

They redid the fluid level check. This time they said they started from stone cold. I thought that's what they did 3 weeks ago...
Anyways this time it was low again. Low to the amout of 1 liter.

So 1/2 liter last time and now another liter added. 1.5L low grand total.

I am a bit upset they missed it the first time but glad it's topped off now.

Its all in the file in case there was any damage caused. Of course there is another 95000 km warranty to rely on but if the tranny calves at 100001km I will be digging out the paperwork.

Also told that my hill surging will have very likely been caused by this as well.

Ok...fingers crossed that this was the issue and I will report back over the next few days to see if there are anymore troubles.

My advice is if you have the tow package take your truck in claiming similar issues and get your fluid level checked. PITA but less painful than a smoked transmission.

I have seen a little improvement with the R to D slipping but still does it from time to time. Changing gears do seem smoother though.

yes, the thing is that i always try to park my truck in reverse so i do not have to backed from my driveway or parking lot , when i do that I just put the truck in D without having the need to go from R to D and it does not slip one bit even when cold. The issue is from R to D but even that is happening less frequently. Anyway I started thinking this was a ATF issue but now i do think is just how the tranny behaves

I've changed my R to D habits and it hasn't done it since. I stop completely before going into D. Also, I cut back my TW lurking.

How many miles did you drive before you added fluid ?

Also try adding fluid again, it could be that you still have air in the system.

I had around 900 miles on it when they added the fluid. I'm close to 2000 now and it seems a little better. I will take it again at 5000 mile service and tell them to check it again

Oh you had dealership add fluid ? Than most likely you are still low on fluid. Don't wait until 5000 miles, you are shredding transmission with low fluid. If it fails they may deny you warranty.

More likely it's just the programming and not your transmission.
to verify, simply push the ect or power button as soon as it starts, drive off and observe for change.
If it behaves like it should you've just nailed it, and it should get better overtime as the computer learns your driving habits.
The last thing you want to do is overfill the transmission.
What they ought to do, IMHO, is to program the ecm to go into the power range for the first two minutes after start up, but that shouldn't be necessary after 500-1k miles for most folk.
    Good luck

Nope , I am not buying it . I know you guys are trying your best but there is still a problem with the fluid level .
Take your truck to a transmission shop for a free road test . Those guys know their stuff when test driving and it should help with diagnosing a low fluid problem .
Use an aftermarket source to determine if there is an actual problem .
There is no baseline for a transmission delay from reverse to drive .
We still need to determine how much time it should take for the transmission to select forward after coming out of reverse . Without professional aftermarket input , we are basing our opinion on the daily driver .
Call up a trustworthy independent transmission shop and schedule a free road test when cold .

Has anyone heard of programming fix or anything for these issues? Or an aftermarket solution of some sort? I'm willing to try about anything to get some more torque so it will quit downshifting to 4th all the time on the interstate.

As a newer owner of a 2016 with towing i have been following this thread since before pickup. I told salesman to have transmission topped before pickup and have not had delays from reverse to drive at all. My problem is slipping or hard shifting when braking. It only happens sporadically and at the very last downshift. Other than that it is very sporadic when punching it or accelerating. Sometimes it digs in and other times it seems lazy. Only 570 miles on it so far. I tried ect on and it behaves very aggressively. Took on thruway to take son to college(200 mile round trip) at 200 miles and it seemed fine at 75-80 cruising speed.

I have had it in and they added 3/4 of a quart and that seemed to help the R to D hesitation. Now that's back and I've noticed it is hesitating if I start it and put it straight into D and take off. Guess another trip back to the dealer is in the near future.

Made an appointment to have my Transmission Fluid Checked and dropped off at dealer about an hour ago. Basically I talked to the service adviser and explained my concerns about the erratic transmission behavior I've experienced. I also expressed my concerns with other owners complaining about these symptoms & having found their fluid level low. He acknowledged he had heard there was a lot of buzz about this on "the forums". My offer was that I'd pay for the labor to check the fluid unless the fluid was in fact low then the dealership would pick up the ticket. He was friendly, seemed eager to help, agreed it was a fair deal and seemed open minded about it. He said first they were going to double check bulletins, make sure there isn't a software update out yet, and then they'd proceed to the fluid check. I was pleasantly surprised with his attitude and my gut feel is I'll take the risk that I can trust him. I asked about labor cost to check fluid and he said $130...but that's only IF I have to pay. I don't have time to sit there for 4 to 6 hours and watch them check the fluid but he explained the process in enough detail to me (re: checking levels on a sealed unit) that I'll put my trust in them. All that being said, I'm going in without much in the way of expectations...except that I may get stuck with a $130 bill.

p.s. I also asked them to check torque on the ubolts. He made the note in the service write-up for that as well.
