Have a weird proposition for anyone in the STL area...

Thinking about going with Dakar leafs (removing the top overload spring and 3rd leaf) for my regular cab tacoma. If I don't end up liking these or they give me too much lift would anyone be interested purchasing these after less than a week of testing them out on my truck?

Sitting at Custom Sounds in Fairview again. They are replacing the head unit this time.

When it works it's bad ass and has features that I haven't even tinkered with. Problem is that on average, every third time I put the key into the ignition it acts up and either doesn't work, or does weird shit.

Ideally I don't want any lift. I'm trying to remain at stock height but increase carrying capacity. However, after a bunch of reading and phone calls I realize that is pretty much impossible. So if I get a minor amount (1'' - 1.5'') I'm OK with that.

I'm trying to find a leaf pack that can handle a little more load capacity for when I haul around yards of mulch or firewood or have my camping gear in back or down the line when I get some sort of topper. Hopefully that all makes sense. I do a lot of highway driving as this regular cab is my DD.

A little side note, my rear end sits almost 2'' higher than the front end with all stock/OEM suspension. I'm OK with the look of it. It doesn't look weird at all to me but my fear is that with a beefier leaf pack my rear end will end up sitting almost 4 inches higher overall than the front end.

    ALL OF THEM!...Then some more.
Just lift the front to match.

Or call Alcan and talk to them about doing a custom pack. But I'll cost twice as much.

That's not 4" of rake..barely any rake at all..

I cut the same out of both of them? Measure hub to the top of the bed side so i can compare. And measure on the front hub to bottom of the snorkel. That should be a fair comparison.

My measurements are compared from stock suspension (after cutting) to suspension install :notsure:

Yeah I know I can go custom pack but I'm not willing to shell out double the cash like you said. Lifting the front is what I want to avoid. I don't want to deal with all of the thumps and clunks and harsh angles that come with lifting a Tacoma (especially a regular cab). At some point in the distant future I will buy nice coil-overs when the front end wears out but like I said that will be a long ways off.

In addition, if I did lift the front I'd have to shell out more cash for nice adjustable coil-overs (don't want to go OME or bilsteins for the front). I don't have any problems with the OEM front suspension at this point. It's works well for what I use my truck for.

So in the end I may give the Dakars a shot (with overload and 3rd leaf removed) and give them a little time to settle. If there's too much rake then off with them I guess.

If it doesn't rain much tomorrow ill get a measurement. To me with your sliders almost even it doesn't look like much rake :notsure:

Hrrrm, Looks like fun but, I would have to remove my stock bumper before doing any trails. Also, couldn't leave until around lunch time on Friday, which is when I get out of the dialysis chair.

Id offer a bumper but I'm not sure if it would fit since your grille dips down compared to mine, and friday is a little bit of a late start. What you doing this upcoming Saturday? wanna try out flat nasty OR park
