curious, did you trade an earlier year Tacoma for your new 2016? I did, and their is no comparison with noise in the cab...the new 2016 is way quieter inside the cab than my 2013 Tacoma. It's peaceful :)

relax, you can take it for a spin before signing the dotted line. If you notice anything funny, then you can keep always what you got. Please note, I and many others have no vibration issues. I hope the folks get their issues taken care of soon. At least we have warranty by Toyota on our side to "get to the bottom" of any problems. They have already fixed a "howling" issue I had. Now, everything is awesome with my new truck :)

interesting, I was considering a Canyon/Colorado truck for a short period of time....they encouraged me to take it home for the night! I declined and settled for a test drive around town.

Jeff-- test the truck out and look for vibrations from 1000 - 2500 RPM.

I'm confused, did you get me switched for someone else you were tryin to talk with? I already own the truck, and drive it everyday...there is no vibrations at any RPMs.

I was planing on getting a new Tacoma. I test drove 2 and didn't notice the vibration. They didn't have a TRD off-road at the time. I was reading this forum and found out about the vibration. I have since driven 3 tacomas and found the vibration on 2 for sure. The transmission seems to try to stay out of that rpm range in the little distance I have driven them. I had to manually shift it into 5th gear to keep it in the rpm range. It is a real problem most people probably don't know they have the problem because the Transmition tries to stay out of that range. I wonder if Toyota did that on purpose to hide the problem. I want a 2016 taco me but won't buy one till this is resolved. If it's not fixed I will have to look at other brands. Wake up Toyota you are going to loose a lot of loyal customers if this isn't fixed soon.

I have often thought it could be a conspiracy. They say it's a "learning transmission". Yeah I call it the " smoke and mirrors". Toyota could have programmed them like this to cover up the vibration until later. (I really don't believe this but it has crossed my mind)

Yeah. Why does Toyota need a "learning transmission" and 2k miles for shifting to act normally? Maybe it is a "fooling transmission."

Do the manual transmissions have this vibration "get worse" after driving the truck for a couple thousand miles, or is it present from the get go?

Present from day one and has been consistent since. I have over 2000 miles on mine so far. The dealer and 3 techs there replicated it but said "its normal" as other owners have brought theres in for the same issue. Unfortunately, they don't have a fix and said hopefully one comes out.

Wish me luck! Heading to the dealership now to have them get their first feel and reaction to the buzz/vibration in my steering wheel and floorboard. I have opened a case# with TOYOTA Corporate. They SAY they want to be involved and get this handled quickly. The lady on the phone says they have never heard of any such complaints. I told her that seemed funny because if you google it, it seems it's everywhere. Their actions will speak louder than their words so we shall see. Stay tuned......

I have a manual, it started at about 1000 miles, and has progressively deteriorated over the following 2500 miles. Unfortunately with this manual, I find myself in the vibration band for the bulk of my long distance travel, especially in 6th gear. I have been spending more time cruising at 3000 rpms in 5th.

Damn. I have an OR on order but only just did a test drive yesterday. It was a DCLB Sport and I noticed the high frequency vibration just after leaving the dealer, noting the same exact 2100-2300 RPM trigger which lead me to this thread once I started searching. I just finished reading the thread and now I'm concerned that even if my OR seems fine on day one that the buzz will just rear it's head later down the road well after the deal is sealed. Mine is slated for build next week, so hopefully there will be progress over the next month before mine arrives. It really seems like a resonance issue that should be resolvable but I'm not keen on gambling $40k on luck of the draw or the possibility of a future resolution.

OK folks. I called Toyota yesterday and started a Case with Toyota. It is Case# 1603070189. I had my first appointment regarding this issue today at Tyler Toyota in Mt Vernon, IL. My truck has just turned 1,000 miles on it so this is the first trip to a Toyota Service Dept for any reason. I explained, as I did the other day when I made the appointment, that I was there regarding the buzz in the wheel. After about 30 minutes of waiting the service writer had me take a drive in my truck with the mechanic to show him the issue. We didn't get 2 blocks from the dealership when the mechanic said he could feel the buzz without even touching the steering wheel. He could feel it in the floorboard. We returned to the dealership where he took the truck in to the shop. I waited in the service lounge. After about another 30 minutes the mechanic pulled around a brand new TRD Sport. He asked me to get in and drive while he rode in the passenger seat. This truck did the same thing as mine. We returned to the dealership where the mechanic said Toyota has NO RECORDS of any of these trucks with any complaints about this buzz. I remarked that sounds odd because if you google it or go to ANY of the forums like this one that there are hundreds of posts concerning this issue. He had already googled it before talking with me and having me drive the new truck so he said he was well aware that there are issues, just none that TOYOTA has addressed yet. He and the service writer said with SO MANY complaints, it would only be a matter of time before they HOPED Toyota would address it and have a TSB for it. Until then, that was all they could do for me. The service writer did say that Toyota MAY come out with a statement saying that the buzz is just an inherent characteristic of this new motor, OR they may actually have a fix. He did not want to speculate as to which he thought it may be. IF they come back with "it's just normal" they are gonna have their hands full with my complaints. I don't think a brand new $40k truck should have a NORMAL buzz. That is unacceptable to me. Too bad because OUTSIDE OF THIS, I freakin LOVE this truck! I will keep you all posted...

Just a side thought.... I've seen a couple other posters mention that some of the truck are made in Texas and some in Baja, Mexico. Mine came from Baja and so did the new TRD Sport they had me drive which did the same thing. A couple posters mentioned their truck made in Texas did NOT have this issue. Anyone care to look at your window sticker and post where the truck was built AND if it has the buzz issue or not??? I'd be curious to know and I bet TOYOTA would like to know too...

I didn't check the VIN of the one I test drove, but both the ones on my dealer's website that match the description of the one I drove are 3TMs.

Can you post a few links ? Ive looked and haven't found much. There are 1 or 2 reports on car complaints but thats all. If mine does it I want as much ammo as I can get to show the dealer.
