spots on hood

After I got home today from flinging some mud I washed off my truck. As I finished, I noticed a bunch of strange spots that look like something liquid was dropped on the hood and front quarter panels. I don't remember seeing them before today, could something from the mud got glazed something on my truck? It's not anywhere else and it SORT OF comes off. I'm quite upset. Any suggestions?

 

Several wax companies (like Meguiars, for example) make a paint cleaner

Not abrasive and clear coat safe

Have you ever heard of something like this happening?

 

BTW, just so I know you know- a paint cleaner is TOTALLY DIFFERENT than "rubbing compound"

 

I've had stuff like bird droppings and hard water stains to residual crap from the Highway (who knows what) that I've had to work out

Yep, you didn't say where you were wheeling, but some areas (ie Calif. deserts & other places) have high concentrations of alkali in the soil and adding water makes an alkali solution - without going into a chemistry lesson, it would be like washing your car in extraordinally HARD water and letting it dry. You probably know what hard water does to a painted finish or glass.

 

it does look like a reaction took place. it sort of comes off, would you saw its on there for good then? I was in SE minnesota i was 60 feet from a river, in a marsh the first actual day the snow was all gone.

 

ok so being the first truck I actually love and care what happens to, these annoying spots need to be hit with an aggressive compound, then a gloss and then wax or is that incorrect?

i'll get some pics uped in a few minutes. I love it, and i love using it in the mud. So I'm at a loss!

Clay Bar should take it off as long as the paint is not damaged.

 

After hitting the mud in my area I always have what looks like stains all over my truck. I use Mothers Pure Polish. Works great

Its no big deal just wash & wax, at most may need clay bar. Did your tires turn blue by any chance? Not a trick question. We have high sulfur in some of the mud around here and it will blue your tires and put spots on paint like this, they normally just go away after washing and normal exposure to elements.

 

Hey, i washed the hell out of these spots. i scraped on them with my thumb nail with and without the aid of my t-shirt. i tried goo gone, windex, dish soap, turtle wax, and they really don't budge.
