Spyder Projector 14' Tacoma

Good Day all has anyone seen these or tried these on their 12-16' Tacoma?

i know Anzo made some after market replacements but i couldn't stand the look of the "U" Bar. from the looks as well the bar on the top and bottom may provide a better day time running experience rather then just the ambers. thoughts?

ALL ebay headlights have shitty light output and are cheaply made. I'd suggest doing a retro, but good luck with those.

 

Spoken like a True Gentleman. There is no way they'll put quality projector parts into an oem headlight at that price.

You should purchase or build your own Retrofit. ​

 

Guys, I purchased a set of Anzo projector lights for my last truck. They were horrible. The reflector bowl is plastic when it should be metal in order to properly reflect the light where you want it. I eventually replaced them with true hid retrofit kit. Keep in mind that most aftermarket kits have a very sharp cut off. Mine were in a 3/4 ton Dodge 4x4 running 33's and when driving over undulating roads the cut off would come rather close to the front of the truck leaving the rest pitch black. That had to do with the height of the truck and needing to tip them down just a bit to keep from blinding everyone else. The cut off was so pronounced that stop signs would be dark. With the Tacoma being a little lower it may not be as much of an issue.

Not telling you not to retrofit but want to make sure you realize it's not all sunshine and rainbows.

 

You are absolutely correct about those Anzo/Spyder so called projector lights. However the reflector bowl of a oem and aftermarket light are both made of plastic. Now the OEM Toyota reflector bowl is made of higher quality plastic than the aftermarket. The light output is not going to make a difference from the bowl if you have a projector. The projector is the main source of light you'll be getting and thats where you'll fail with the Aftermarkets.

You'r best bet to get the Look and the Performance is to build your own Retrofit or get it done by someone.

My absolute favorite build is a OEM Toyota Headlight with a OEM Nissan Murano Projector retrofitted in. That's a perfect combination imho. ​

 

Go figure, I did mine more than a few years ago and I could swear they were metal as I actually had to make some special mounts. Maybe I'm mistaken (good chance) or they've changed to plastic. Got them from The Retrofit Source.

 

^LOL. You're talking about the actual Projector itself. Then yes, its metal 100% all around as well as the reflector shield.

Is there a writeup for this? That seems pretty inexpensive to do compared to other retrofits I've seen.

 

Don't know if you'd consider that a cheaper retrofit as it can run you some coin to build. There is a lot of work to get those OEM Projectors to fit perfectly after tuning them. The FX-R is a lot easier to do and get it aligned right. ​

^LOL. I mean it comes down to preference as I know people love the Lexus LS Projector but I prefer the Muranos. I am in the process of building my new personal pair with Muranos and a Infiniti Shroud w/Custom paint work. Its going to be sleek for my truck while the lighting will turn heads.​
