I replaced the stock speakers in my previous Tacoma (a 2009) and had to use mounting plate/brackets and speaker adapters from Taco Tunes to get them to work/fit properly. I never bothered installing a sub.

My question is, are they are good plug & play models and/or adapters currently around to replace the speakers in the 3rd Gen double cabs? If so, what are they? Does the factory head unit give off enough power for adequate sound with upgraded speakers? I'm not an audiophile by any means but do wish for an upgrade over the stock sound.

If I were to ever add a 10" sub and amp combo, do any of the current boxes work without removing any of the behind the seat storage area? I dont mind if it covers it up, but would rather not remove the actual storage etc.

Never seen this but looks good. Something I'll have to consider for the future.

Yeah, those kits look nice, a little pricey for what I"m looking for though.

********* makes a sub box that fits right behind the seat with no trimming of storage area. ********* also has adaptors and a plug and pkay wire harness to add speakers/sub.

Have they gotten any better on the customer service/turn-around time aspect? I remember when I ordered from them back in 2009/2010 time-frame I was initially told I would have the product within a week and it took over a month with no communication nor responses to my inquiries in-between.

I saw this on the crutchfield site and was hoping someone would chime in with personal experience on the Focal speakers. Looks like its only for the 6x9's though, so I would still need something to replace the stock tweets etc.

Looks like I'm going to cave in and order the oem audio plus setup! Spoke to them on the phone Thursday and was one of the more pleasant sales experiences I've ever had over the phone. Not pushy in any way, not the least bit pretentious and they didn't even push to close the sale.
