What is the best e-locker to use on the 95 3.4v6 single cab sx tacoma? Hearing good things about them and thinking of adding one on mine. Any links will help too.

IIRC, the non-TRD has a larger ring gear. If I didn't have a TRD I'd be tempted to go with an ARB and keep my housing/larger ring gear.

Not to highjack the thread, but have you considered a lunchbox locker for the front?

Can't say I have. But anything for extra traction at low cost.

Can't comment on a lunchbox for a Taco, but in a Wrangler it was the best $250 I ever spent. :)

There is only one e locker for our trucks and it came factory with trd offroads from 98-04 and on some rare 97-96s as an option.

The third member does not line up with the 8.4 housing which is what everyone else has that doesn't have the locker. If you want an e locker you need an entire axle to swap under the truck. I've seen them go for 200-500 bucks.

The arb locker fits in the 8.4 diff housing and is much more expense. Locker new is 1k about plus you need OBA or co2 to activate it 2-400 bucks.

Arbs are much stronger and they say the 8.4 is stronger too. But it won't be a huge issue unless your going to doing some crazy shit with the truck.

I'm going dual arbs as I like how fast air lockers engage as opposed to the e locker which can take up to 20 feet to full engage. But that usually isn't a big deal if you know when to use it.

I would recommend a complete axle swap. The hardest part is going to be finding a complete axle to swap in, at least in my neck of the woods.

I know this is an old thread. But I was wondering if I had a 03 Tacoma 4x4 without e locker could I put a 01 elocker in it from a 2x4 pre runner? They are the same gear ratio already checked that

You would need the whole axle to swap in.

Someone already mentioned it earlier but back when I had my '99, I put a Detroit lunchbox locker in it for a few hundred bucks and it was the best thing I ever did to that truck, much cheaper than a selective locker. Just had to endure the audible clicking sound it made whenever you took a turn during daily driving.
