They're beefy specialized clips.

I paid $7.50 ea from the local dealership.

Also - I'm pretty sure I have one laying around in the garage after my front end swap.

If you have a Scan Gauge or an Ultragauge you can set them to display the speed in KM/H or MPH.

I have torque pro with the bluetooth adapter but haven't really messed with it yet. I need to figure a way to get the bluetooth adapter to shut off because it always runs when it's plugged into the port. Plus you have to connect to it every time you go anywhere

 

I'm not currently using it, and haven't used it extensively, but I used Torque Pro for a little while. Yeah, the adapter will be powered as long as it is plugged in, but I never noticed an issue. Even after a good 24 hours or more of the truck idling, I noticed no lag in startup. Seems it really sips power. If I planned on the truck sitting for more than a weekend, then yeah I'd unplug it.

As for connecting it, I recall there being an option to autoconnect when you start your truck? I could be mistaken, but that seems familiar. Of course, if you use a bluetooth head unit, you'll have to connect to the adapter first before connecting your device to the head unit. This is regardless of any autoconnect settings. It seems to do some sort of loose connection to the adapter and doesn't actually show it as connected on your phone/tablet. But if you already have a real connection (to a head unit, for example), then you won't be able to connect to the adapter.

My guess is they wanted to get the lines into the airflow, maybe to dissipate some heat.

 

If I had to venture a guess I'd imagine it is because it is an option and they had to make the parts easily installed at the end of production or later on at the dealer, thus cludgy design.

I'd advise doin it before you cross another deep crossing like that. For your sake lol don't want to get water in your diff or plug it and blow your axle seals! Just lookin out for ya!

 

I have my bt going to my head unit but I had a tablet I was going to run torque to. I know theres a way to power it into the ignition but I have to find it. Just low on my priorities. I will probably just buy a VSS and see if that works

 

That'd work too. Not sure how array of outputs you're looking to view, but there're plenty of ways to view a lot of the truck's systems. Of course, these trucks have are starting to get some age to them, and they aren't luxury vehicles, so there're probably not as many viewable systems as on newer vehicles.
