Same here. It's going to be very difficult to sign the paperwork if there isn't some resolution by the time my truck arrives next month.

I skipped my follow-up appointment at the dealer today. I'm waiting for feedback on someone else's visit where they are changing some parts. Plus I was busy today  and I didn't have the time for a drop off and going through the loaner process.

I called on my case #, and it sounds as if my information was only passed on to the dealer. If I'm going to go through the process of dropping off my truck and waiting for a FTS to show up just so I can show him the results of playing with shields and whatnot, I'm going to try and narrow it down a bit more first. I hope someone else gets it resolved in the mean time.

I started my own ignore list so I can avoid the people who want to come in and shit in the thread. Typically, I can find some humor in some of the "trolls" here, but when people come in with the sole purpose of disrupting, muddying the water and/or misinforming, well it is annoying. We are trying to get something solved that may not benefit everyone, but then again somewhere down the road it might. It is strange to think of someone's motivation to dampen that.

A little off-topic, but I'm reminded of some experiences I've had in the non "Tacoma World" world. I've participated in the start-up and managing day-to-day operations of a couple of small businesses. Even with "No soliciting" signs on the front door, you get the sales guys coming in almost daily. Both businesses are in a service industry, so online reputation & reviews are pretty important to build the business and just get people to walk through the door. I can't tell you how many sales people have tried to sell me some sort of online management service. Usually they are describing web design, getting your search results higher, and managing reviews. Even the review sites themselves are in on the review management racket (and that's what it really is with some of them... it's not that far from paying for 'protection'.) Anyway, if Toyota was smart, the would have some sort of online presence on sites like this. It would be a shame if instead of being a direct, positive presence, it was more of a indirect negative presence. That's just the "OCD nitpicker who can't tell the difference between a table-saw like buzz and a normal vehicle" in me talking though!

My dealer didn't request for me to come back. They simply are waiting for Toyota to contact them on how to proceed. I called Toyota Corporate when I got home from the dealer. They said a Customer service MANAGER would contact me within 48 business hours. I am impressed that the person at Toyota could see on their computer system that I was in the dealership earlier today and was reading their notes on what they discovered regarding my truck and issue. As I stated before, this is TOTALLY unacceptable to me. They say the squeaky wheel gets all the grease? Well that is my plan. I will raise more hell than they've ever seen to get this resolved...whether that's getting my truck fixed to where there is no issue OR they get me another truck that has no issue OR they simply refund my $40k plus! Time will tell and I will keep you posted on what the next call from Toyota entails...

busticator, I'm hoping you find the answer to this issue, my truck was ordered the end of last month so I have a few more weeks until I get any word on the build, I haven't written off my Tacoma yet. I know allot of members are depending on you and not necessarily Toyota.

Thanks busticator for taking on trying to diagnosis this issue. As stated in my other posts it seems exhaust system related. Sounds/ feels like heat shields, ex system is bound up installed tight creating harmonics, or the ex system needing counter weights, trans/engine mount or something grounding out at the 2000-2300 rpm range. Being a retired FORD mechanic as of 7/15 I've bought nothing but Tacoma's 04,12,15,16 and traded in [regretting] a problem free 2015 SR5 4x4 V6 Ex Cab for the latest and greatest 2016 SR5 V6 4x4 Ex Cab with the virus. We were trained at to diagnose customer concerns like this. As a mechanic if I got a job like this I would install the "Steelman Chassis Ears" on the veh and road test at the problem speed/rpm trying to duplicate the customer complaint. The chassis ears were a great tool they make them wireless [what we had] and wired. Unfortunately I don't have access to them anymore but it would be a great tool to help diagnosis the problem without removing parts. For anyone interested in them look them up on ebay here's a wired set for sale auction number 381527531871 or just search "Chassis Ears". Once the weather warms up I will try to help diagnosis this problem. By the way my truck was built 9/15 in Texas with current mileage at 2,300 .

Much earlier in the analysis, we tried to see if it was one plant or another and there seems to be no pattern....trucks from both plants both have and don't have the buzz. There is obviously something that shifts or moves or something, which brings the buzz up. If you see early DRBANE posts, they tried to shift his engine and re-torque his engine mounts and it got sorry-worse. On mine, when the original Master Mechanic checked things out, Toyota wanted him to try the same thing...thankfully, his response was that he felt it would make it worse (his original theory was engine mount design)....and I'm grateful for that!

Thanks Doobiewah -Agreed. Three Master tech's also agreed with your Tech's theory. One also said:
"Lexus uses electronic mounts as well as oil filled—I would think they could do some type of cross engineering to fix it."

Good deal man and yeah, same here... never used the ignore feature so much on a single site before here,
it's the same group that have been going strong for over a year!

Have we heard from any of the guys that have changed out the exhaust for an after market
and what before and after results were?

My buzz is about every 2 or 3 seconds.... Sounds like: ggrrrrr............ggrrrrr.........ggrrrrr.........and can only be heard/felt with the radio off and on a smooth road. And at speeds of 15mph and above. It almost sounds like the the rear differential but I am not sure. I think more people will notice it if they try to listen and have the radio off and on a smooth road so the road noise doesn't drowned it out.

The 2-3 second deal is the same for me. Almost like a pulsating buzz with a second or two delay in between. The only difference is I can feel/hear it with the radio on and the road surface doesn't matter. Usually I can feel it through the steering wheel and gas pedal simultaneously. I thought it may be driveline related, so I added grease to my u-joints last night to see if that might help. My u-joints were practically bone-dry; it took about 6-7 pumps on the grease gun before any grease started coming out the seams. Hopefully that helps, but I couldn't tell on my drive into work this morning. I did open up a case number with Toyota for the buzz issue and for my transmission, and I am bringing it into the dealership on Friday to have it checked out.

    Toyota is smart

    and they won't do this

because it is a waste of time to engage anonymous entities on anonymous forums.

Toyota engages regional reps, who engage dealers, who engage customers directly, and vice versa.

That is how it works, and results in the least wasted time and resources for everyone involved.

FYI - The tech that looked at my truck suspected it might be the exhaust mount or the exhaust itself.

I was wondering just that, thx. Need to find out if the few that have changed
had this and still have it after the change out.

Did he mention any particular mount? Before or after the cat?

He said it's near the front floor board area--I don't have a lift to tell you --says it's a harmonic vibration coming from the engine--says it's resonating on the chassis--The Highlander had a similar problem which was traced to an exhaust bracket--you can find it in the Highlander threads --2015 ...
