A few days ago I started to get a buzzing noise coming from the headliner, around the moon roof controls. When I took the controls off I found the white peice of plastic that supports the headliner became unglued and was rattling around. Looks like Toyota used some very inexpensive white glue or just didn't use enough of it.
So far only the right side has come unglued. Come on Toyota this is the 4th defect I've found on the new $40k truck, what else is going to fall apart.

Mine is doing the same thing, especially when it's colder outside. If I put pressure on the area by the controls, it stops. I'm also getting a rattling sound by the front passenger/windshield speaker.

stick some tooth picks between the dash that contacts the A pillar. same issue I have where there isn't enough of a gap that the two components rub and cause a squeaking sound. louder when its colder since the plastics are harder.

Thanks for the heads up, I've got two different (but equally ANNOYING) rattles coming from the headliner. Oh and the speaker/A-pillar thing

@alexderaven Thanks for posting this - I'm getting the same exact thing and I went thru anything and everything that could have been making a sound in that area. Realized later that it was coming from the headliner around the moon roof controls and sunglasses holder. If you put pressure by pressing on the headliner (at least on mine) near the sunglasses holder, it would stop.

So toothpicks on the A pillar to fix that sound or is that referring to another noise? I'm trying to fix my rattle now too.

Also, would be interested to hear what your other (3) defects you've experienced....I think I saw you post on another thread that I've been watching (as I'm having issues with my new truck too).

How did you remove the controls?

So just grab the entire thing and pull down? Hopefully the clips don't break

Thanks for the help! If the slight rattle comes back I'll just get one of those trim tools to remove it otherwise its not a big deal to me I just turn the radio up and jam out

That's a great idea! The only rattle that I had that really bugged me was the passenger speaker cover was rubbing the pillar on the dash so I wedged a piece of black carpet out of a Tundra in there and it stopped.

Instead of Fixing it yourself, take it to the dealer and have them fix it. This way it can be documented and Toyota will get to see the issue as found by the tech. If everyone does their own repairs Toyota is just going to think their products are great and their are no problems. If they start to see the issues, they can then get on Pablo's ass and make sure he's doing his job properly. If not they can get him off the line, or get some better quality control reps to identify the issues before the trucks leave the plant.

Or perhaps both! But it won't happen if people are fixing the issues thenselves

-I've got the vibration at certain RPMs, causing most of the rattling.
-Vibration behind the passenger foot trim (electric cables/harness behind it vibrate)-fixed
-little bit of vibration somewhere in the dash.
-Hood vibration (adhesive issue that most have, not to bad though)
-Weather stripping for the rear passenger doors bows-out.

My main concern is the vibration at certain RPMs, seems to be causing all those other trim vibration issues.
I really want to love this truck, but these issues are starting to annoy me.

I'm with you a 100% on the vibration issue. I've had to use some weatherstripping in between the center console and the passenger seat to stop a rattle when the two hit each other. Its being caused by the vibration too. I really like this truck but its wearing on me quick as well. My vibration can be felt in the steering wheel, gas pedal, and floor boards. Happens on acceleration and deceleration.

Reviving an old thread, I had the same buzzing/rattling noise from the overhead controls (TRD off-road)

Opened it up by pulling straight down and the 4 clips pop right off. Might need a little force but it comes off. I found the from the mic to be loose and rubbing against the surrounding trim so I rolled up some duct tape and stuck it in the gaps and assembled it back together. So far no noise and it was a quick 5 minute fix.

My 2021 started buzzing in this area. Does anyone have a detailed guide to fixing this?

Maybe stick some felt there to absorb it ..might be a cheap way to fix it but you will never see it .
