South Carolina BS thread under new MANAGEMENT and lives in SC

yea pretty much the same here. when a get a few days, I go back up to my parents place and have access to a few properties up there. but mostly in char, im hunting in the forest. cant freakin wait though! opening day is the day before my birthday. its a good omen!

 

Do you know if hunting is allowed in the Ion Swamp area?? I hunt the Francis Marion a pretty good bit too. Mostly the Waterhorn unit.

 

I'm not sure ive heard of the waterhorn unit. wheres that at? MCVL? and if its in the forest, I assume you can hunt it as long as its not posted otherwise. that's my philosophy at least.

 

The Waterhorn unit is the northernmost unit off 17 towards Georgetown. My forest maps does not even show the Ion Swamp area, so I'm not sure about hunting there. I'll have to ask a game warden.

 

ok, yea I haven't hunted up there yet. I normally stick to the lower half of the forest in the halfway creek area. ive got a buddy here that does wander all over hunting though. maybe ill start shadowing him and see where all he goes. theres turkeys everywhere so I try not to travel any farther than I have to haha. it means more time in the woods for me

 

also he's taken some really nice deer and ducks out of the Wee Tee area in the forest. this page has some phone numbers for some of the areas around the state, they may be able to answer some questions for you

Still planning on checking out Battery Park Offroad this weekend. I can do Sunday instead of Saturday if that works better for anybody else that wants to go...I'll just have to DVR my NASCAR and catch up on it when I get home.

Things like this is what makes me miss home (California)...except for the $4 to $5 per gallon gas prices and needing to smog a vehicle every 2 years. Sooooooo many places to wheel, explore, find, etc. Anywhere it's BLM land, you can go.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to go back...

 

Let's plan a trip somewhere....I wouldn't mind taking a few days off to go travel
