and no, my tires didn't turn any color out of how they normally look after driving at that spot.

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
I had something like that on my hood. Not as pronounced as that. It was kind of a big dull spot on the hood. Truck was only about 3 years old. A good wash and wax and I can't see anything wrong anymore.

A good aggressive day off-road is best followed up by a good aggressive day of cleaning, it's just part of the game. Wash, wax and possible clay bar, will need wax after clay bar, should be good to go.

You could try something like Meguires ScratchX. It sits in between Meguires Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish in abrasive cut. I went after a scratch in my hood with ScratchX and a yellow Megs foam pad with no issues. It's user friendly. And you don't need to worry about hazing like you would with a compound (assuming you use the right applicator). Whatever you do, remember to start with least aggressive methods first and work up (so you don't end up with a bigger problem). Rest easy, I'm sure it's fixable. But you do want to address it sooner than later.

I'd start with clay. Then if that doesn't work, scratchX on a foam pad (like the pad that comes free with Meguires waxes). If that doesn't get it, try compound-- then a microfiber pad or terry cloth (but they will likely cause hazing that will then need further polishing). The scratchX has no wax/sealer component to it. It is strictly a paint cleaner. Another tip--- try a test spot first on an out of the way spot (like by the muffler, for example) to be sure your methods aren't causing hazing or micro-marring if you need to go aggressive. If you go as far as compound- and still no luck- I'd probably see a pro that can buff it out. Be attentive of the chance of instilling a "valley" in the paint if it requires prolonged rubbing.

This is kinda worst case scenerio stuff. Hopefully clay, cleaner wax, or polish/foam pad will zap it. FYI Some cleaner waxes have cut and some do not (i.e. They are chemical cleaners only).

Near a river/marsh-- these areas flood and evaporate repeatedly = high concentrations of mineral salts (and who knows what else!). My guess is it's something like that. I get it when I go hunting sometimes.

    obviously youre not an expert...
the best way to see the spots was to have something other than the blue sky in the background. I know the difference between mud and clouds reflecting off my truck... bro.

OP, before you go mudding next time, give your paint a good coat of wax. Wash the mud off as soon as you can. It's a lot easier than buffing the paint.

i apoligize, i'm so use to idiots on youtube talking to me like that about my videos. so again, i'm sorry!

To everyone who gave me suggestions so far, i went to autozone and talked to someone for a little bit. I started with a clay bar, it did NOTHING to these punk ass spots. I'm starting to think these spots are on there for good.

Do you park near mulch? I used to and had what is called artillery fungus on the side of the truck facing the mulch. Pain in the ass to get off if you leave them there to dry up.

no i park in a variety of spots. I've got some pictures right after coming out of the muddy road i was on, and all the spots on the hood i see today, are where mud was sitting two days ago.
it feels ALMOST like acid on glass, like the chemical composition was changed. i scraped on a spot or two in a panic rage and white lines were appearing like it was layers of wax getting scratched up or clear coat. the more I think of this, the more I know these damn spots are on there for good. AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It might be the result of tree sap... Tree sap if left sitting on the finish will etch through the clear coat leaving "ghost" like spots. The resin in the sap is the culprit. Unfortunately it won't buff out as the clear coat finish has been compromised.
