Good point! Did you have to drill a new hole or use an existing one?

Used holes that were there already just made a plate that covered 4 of the holes drilled the plate and welded off the plate easy to remove seems solid enough

Salvaged an old back pack pocket and velcro in makes storage a little more organized and free. Also used back pack straps and buckles to make a bed side axe mount worked great no pics tho .

For those that have switched their rears entirely over to LEDs

I understand it takes two 7443 per side? And on the turns you need to install a resistor

Is this correct and any brand recommendation is appreciated

Curious if anyone else on here has noticed that the windshield seems to be very "weak"? 2 small spider cracks in under a week and they weren't from large rocks or anything. Just normal road crap. Had an old 4Runner I drove for 10 years - not one crack. It could just be bad luck.?

Yep, already had to replace my windshield once and I already have a chip on the new one. I'm not sure if it's the angle of the windshield or the thickness but it does seem to catch damage easily.

VLEDs. There is a thread in 3rd gen showing install and improvement. They are a little more $. But I would say well worth it. Turns you do need the resistor or you get hyper flash. The install took about 30 minutes. Everything you need. Get the heat shrink wrap for the connections and heat resistance mounting double stick tape for the resistors from them if you buy. Quality equipment my opinion.
