I have a 2006 base V6 4WD Access Cab. How can I tell if it is Pre wired for cruise control? I have watched the videos of guys installing the controller and that is it...seems too good to be true! Any help sorting this out would be helpful. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure all trucks are Pre wired, since it's in the wiring harness. I might be wrong though, so don't quote me.

99.9% sure all trucks are pre-wired and should be the same setup as my 2016. Here is a detailed write up for the install I did a little while back!

my 2005 tacoma 4x4 base model, was not pre-wired
your suppose to see brown and green wire on side of steering wheel, if you have those wires then it is pre-wired

my 05 4x4 reg cab was prewired. very simple install if you have automatic. Manual requires a clutch cutout switch which is a little work to get at it but not too bad. Even the cruise light in the dash is there - it was cool to see that come on after the install.

I called the dealer to see if he could answer the question by running the VIN. He claims that it is not pre wired. I would hope that he gave me good info. He quoted me me $476 installed...damnit!

Are you talking inside of one of the knockouts?

My 05 is a reg cab/ no options 4x4 so you would think if any 05 up was not prewired it would be mine yet it's all there. It makes sense to use one wiring harness for all models.
Just like the intermittant wipers - not an option for my model but just add the control stalk (about 15 min ) and it works.

Dog friendly, with dog snot on inside windows, with of course a/c! Mag 16 inch wheels from a Mazda.
When I got mine from china $16, you also needed a wire connector $8 from Toyota. Look at this video the guy even drills a hole in the plastic cover! I did such a lousy job a purchased a new cover for $5 from Toyota. So for under $30, you should be able to do it for automatic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjoTus5q5p0

right side of steering wheel / i read a long time ago, that if you see a green/brown wire then your truck is wired for cruise control, just install stalk and plug it in

if you do not see a green/brown wiring = not pre-wired

I hate to ask the same question this late at night but how do I tell if my basic 2015 Tacoma access cab with the 2.7 L is pre-wired? It has the access cover on the right hand side where it would normally go.
