Thanks ridez, I will get the lower wattage for the fogs. I just want the same color light. How about the high beams, h11 for those too?

H11 is a Halogen spec. Anything other than a H11 halogen is an adapted standard. H11 is a standard typically used in low beam lights and pulls 55w of power, H9 has a different base interface and electrical connector and 65w of draw usually for high beams, and the H8 is another similar standard for fogs with a draw of 35w. They are all slightly different to prevent people from putting higher wattage bulbs in circuits not designed for the draw and housings that cannot handle the heat. The OPT7's can fit into all 3 of these standards and because it makes far less heat and draw less power than even the H8. Just remember the OPT7 it's not a H11 standard, it's something comparable with the housing.

Great information, thanks for the knowledge guys. The more I hear the more I might wait for the manufacturers to come out with specific replacements for the 2016 tacoma

i know they do, but what I'm saying is they aren't h11s all around, manual doesn't say they are, and they aren't. thats all I'm saying. feel free to tell people on here that h11s should work in all 3, but thats not what the oem calls for.

The OEM calls for halogens all around. That's the point. The OPT7's can successfully function in those three housings (H8,H9,H11). They are not by any means a standard and don't fall under the standards set by NHTSA and SAE. If you want to be technical they are illegal for roadway use as they break the rules.

Wow, talk about fast delivery, 3 days from time of order till delivery. I installed the Opt7 for low beam and a set of the Hella Optilux Extreme Yellow fogs . They really look great and I hope they last for awhile. The install was super easy, the fogs just needed a little dremel trimming on the metal tabs, 30min. job total.

That's not what I was getting at. My point is that they're a cross comparable retrofit that can operate within each housing on the 3rd gens. I was trying to describe what each bulb was designed for and what the differences were and why they exist.

Yep, that's what whopper did. As for the fogs, those are very low power LED's, typically used for DRL's They will work but they won't put off any usable light. Personally what I plan to do is go HID in both the fog and low's and the OPT7's in the high beam, maybe just stay with halogens in the fogs and put in some yellow bulbs. This is just to cut down on costs. HID kits are cheaper than a set of LED's.

My opinion on the lights; If your looking to increase your light output, this is not the answer (low beams). They have better clarity up close, but they do not project light as far as the stock halogen's. The lights look really cool, but I'm not sure if I would buy them again if/when they burn out. The Optilux Extreme Yellow fogs (H11) look great and actually throw some light out, they look like they will help in actual fog conditions. I will keep this setup on the truck, I just hope everything last for awhile.

Some people have posted these don't work or there not intended for these type headlights with that being said I like the lights they do put more light out and do shine better in my opinion the h11 in the fogs light up very well down low and to the side like foglights are designed to do the low beam have very good cut line and shine better light I'm not saying it goes further down the road but it's the color of daylight so it's more chrisp clean clear light in the high beams they really do way better then the stock halogen

@whopper so you used the same h11 the $100 ones that you used in the low beams for the high beams? How is light output? The same as oem or brighter?
