Have you done the cost analysis on this? Your commute is far, no doubt, but would you really be saving money if you purchased a 2nd car (price + insurance + registration etc...). When would you break even? I've done the analysis, and it wouldn't make sense for me. The break even point would be years. Of course it all depends on what you buy.

I have to find the right car. Probably my moms old Camry. With that said...no, I haven't done a break even analysis because I Know it wouldn't pay. I just want to give my truck to my son when he turns 16 without having 300K miles on it. It will be 10 years old when he starts driving. That is worth the added cost to me.

31 miles one way. I have a 2015 Subaru Legacy that gets over 30 mpg for my regular commuter car although I've been taking my truck since I just picked it up this past weekend.

Cleveland to Indy and back once a week. 740 miles round trip. At 52 weeks, add personal miles, that's going to be about 43,000 miles a year.............

Current total commute is about 52 miles. Roughly 40-45 minutes. Nice thing is, I travel through the area I hunt, so it makes a quick (2-3 hour) morning or evening hunt really easy.
