He just needs to take it for a run out on some trails and thru some mud and then he will be TOTALLY HAPPY with his truck. IMO :)

Never said you were a fan boy, didn't call out any names. Just stating my experience with the truck. It's not a crime nor a forum violation to voice differing opinions and share a variety of experiences, last I checked. Seems to me like somebody is getting a wee bit over-defensive.

I've changed my mind. I don't like the damn thing. Too many pricks are driving them.

Compared to my last truck this one feels like a car lol ;) ... but seriously, I like how it's small and easy to get around parking lots but still has a nice solid truck feeling. It's soft in the right spots, but tough in all the right ways ;)

I only have 2500 miles on mine, but I love it so far. There are a few small things I could nit pick about, but overall it's really great and fits my needs and personality perfectly.

Beautiful ride, you'll enjoy it for years to come until you get bored or the 4th G comes out lol!
Most all modern ECM equipped vehicles have adaptive learning features. It means that it adapts. To the gas you use, to the oil it has, tires or wear etc.
As your components break-in, it will adapt. The "sound" at around 25-35 mph got considerably quieter on mine after I got 800miles on the clock. Now I miss it :/
The same thing happened to my 4.0 '13 4runner. It was loud at first and got quieter. But it could be I just got used to it??
    NOT! lol!
At any rate, It's your baby, you paid for it and are learning it, and it's always learning you.
    No matter what anyone says.

Picked up my new TRD Sport 4x4 auto/LBDC black just one week ago and have right at 1000 miles. Handles great and really is a fun little truck to drive. Getting 21+ mpg at 75 mph highway and 19 in town. Very satisfied>

    Q - What's the difference between a porcupine and a Tacoma?
A - On a porcupine, the pricks are on the outside.

My TRD Sport DCLB 4x2 has 5000 miles and I love how it drives. I don't have any of the issues that have been discussed on here. I also feel like it drives better as time goes on, or I'm getting use to it, either way nothing negative to say about it!

I've owned 6 Toyota trucks, 4 Tacomas. This is the most refined of the bunch.

Gas mileage has been better than expected also. My tank averages have been about 21.5 MPG

Sorry Smitty but you called bullshit on the OP on your first post. You should have said "glad you are happy with your truck" and left it at that!

For what its worth Todd, Toyota said it would take 2500 to 10,000 miles for the tranny to break in depending on your driving style.

Mine started out at 21 mph but has gradually fallen to 18 while transmission manners have become much more tolerant and acceptable. I'll gladly give up the 3 mpg for the improved drivability. Just my 2 cents

    Congrats, and enjoy!
After owning two gas guzzling Tundras, which I got rid of when a gallon of gas got past the $4 mark back in ’08, I stooped driving trucks.
The MPG i get on this truck is what I love best (but not the only thing as size matters), and I’ve been dying to get back into a truck again and now I’m home! :)
