Wow, that dealer did go above and beyond!

I'd check all the bumper to fender/hood gaps. A lot of times when you remove the bumper and put it back on, it may not be aligned correctly. Make sure you check that out and tell the dealer when you go back to the dealer for that messed up paint you go there.

personally, I think that paint looks messed up and the whole bumper should be repaired.

Tell your dealer to repaint, and fix his shit job or he can talk to your lawyer.

The bumper looks perfectly aligned last time I checked this evening. It's the only touched-up area around the headlight that makes me still unsatisfied.

They kept telling me that repainting won't do any good ever since I told them about the knife cut they made on paintwork. They said they won't be able to match the factory paint 100%. Now it's a touch-up job which is better than leaving it exposed to salts, but still looks not perfect.

Well that's good. I'd check for broken tabs on the bumper too.

I'd go to the dealer and tell them to repaint that knifed area.

If the dealer compensate me in someway, I'll probably settle. I'm too tired of having to deal with this crap of contacting, making phone calls and going to the dealer everyday for the last two weeks. Probably this is my second Toyota and second one from this Wisconsin dealer and is going to be my last Toyota and last thing I will buy from this dealer ever again.

Sorry for your bad luck, I have had lots of Toyota vehicle and have had bad dealings with dealers also. You have legal rights. Hope it all works out for you. Good luck.

I do not believe in luck! They did bad job on this car and they admitted it that they screwed up. I scolded at the dealer when they mentioned "bad luck" to me.

You can settle, but you'll still look at that messed up paint everytime you walk up to your truck. For me, that's unacceptable, even if they lowball me with a few thousand dollars. I would cease all communications with the dealer and let the lawyers handle it.

Take your truck to them and show up with an attorney, trust me, I work for a law enforcement agency. Leave them with the truck, tell them they have 1 week or the can settle it in court, if not fixed. Sue the shit out of them. You will win.

I would note to the lawyers that you went to the dealer every day for problems for 14 days in a row. That should give you some traction. I smell lemon law since it's been 2-weeks already.

Technically it's been since Monday that the car is in dealer. But the issue has been reported to Toyota California office three weeks ago. And I don't think Lemon Law covers paintjob in Wisconsin

This would be a civil case, not criminal (yet), 1st you have find a good lawyer, ask friends, family, open the yellow pages, make the call, the attorney will also sue for his fees, might cost you some money to have him go to the dealer with.you. you have the legal system on your side. Use it.

One thought, when they swapped the bumper, what did they do with the VIN sticker on the bumper? On all the cars I had prior, every body panel had a VIN sticker (that is not removable) to show that the body panels are original and belong to the vehicle that came out from the factory. Since your bumper is no longer original, i'd ask for them to give you diminished $$ for that too.

They swapped the front bumper, they did not swap the fender/quarter panel where the problematic knife marks are on. Is there a VIN sticker on front bumper?

You need to get on this tomorrow, go to your doctor, tell him how much stress this is causing you, then call an attorney, now they see big $$$$$$$ can come there way. Don't let the dealer stealer win this one.

Would the fact that I ask the dealer to do the touch up count against me? The dealer had mentioned that touch up would leave blemish surface like on this picture.

I'd try once more. Go back to the dealer and don't leave until you speak IN PERSON to the decision maker at that dealership. Be nice, polite and lay out your case in a logical and professional manner. Have notes with you describing the previous attempts at a remedy.
Your position is solid. You've been very patient (much more so than most would be) and you only want the undamaged truck that you paid for and this is your final attempt to rectify this to your satisfaction before you escalate the matter. Sooner or later they're going to have to address this properly and sooner is better for everyone. Get to the RIGHT guy and lay out your case.
