Yes. Now you have a front bumper with a VIN from a different truck. That will be problem when you sell the truck. Dealers check this, and now to them the truck will look suspicious.

I'd be pissed and I would be wanting something done. Might be time to ask them for another vehicle and let them know you will be contacting a lawyer. And I would seek out some legal counsel

The guy I've been dealing with is New Vehicle Sales Director. I've been too patient on this compared to most people, I think.

Please confirm that the front bumper has VIN on it, do you have a picture of that? I will put this to them tomorrow. Thanks.

I would think so. You went to the dealer every day for 2 weeks. Tell them to compensate for your time too. A lawyer can do that. Let us know what the lawyer says.

Ask him if he can make a FINAL decision on what the dealership will do. It's either yes or no. Do not accept any more "handoffs" to anyone BUT the person that can give you an answer...and you do need an answer....not in a week...not in two days.....Tell them you're not leaving the dealership without an answer. Park yourself there in full view with coffee and a book (or whatever). They are postponing the inevitable. Don't let them drag it out anymore.

They look like this. It could be anywhere in the bumper. Depends on who puts it on.3235353334382e6a7067.jpg

That big bead of raised paint on the left most side of the headlight edge on the fender. Whoever owns that truck I feel bad for. is that the other 'cannot sell' tacoma who swapped the bumper with?

No, the front bumper was swapped out and I get the perfect bumper without blue/primer mis-paint from factory. It's plastic bumper. That was factory defect. That's done.

What I'm left with right now is the touch-up from the knife while they did the clear bra, this is on the fender/front right quarter panel.

In other words, I have two separate things -- a factory-defect plastic bumper paint and a knife job on metal fender by the dealer.

Leer 100 RCC canopy, Relentless aluminum front bumper, car seats of my twin minions.
Email Toyota directly. When I purchased my 2012 I had a local dealer flat out lie and try to cheat me. I contacted Toyota via email and was extremely impressed! They got right back to me and informed me that someone from the dealership would be in contact to resolve the issue. When the dealer never called I emailed Toyota again. This time I think they must have chewed some serious ass because the owner called me the next morning, not the manager, and was extremely appalegetic! I would try that before a lawyer.

The California Toyota office has been working on the plastic bumper that ended up getting replaced. Now it's a separate thing.

Also, don't sign off on anything the dealer gives you. Your position to them is that " all you want is what they were supposed to deliver to you..and they haven't". Don't go in threatening legal action. Everybody does that to them and most customers don't follow through on the threat of legal action. I would consider having an attorney draw up a letter with the facts at hand and your efforts trying to have your valid concerns addressed. No threats...just a "shot over the bow" first. This letter should go REGISTERED MAIL to the GM of the dealership and a copy to the registered owner of the dealership, along with a copy to Toyota Corporate. I believe this will get the resolution you're looking for. The "perks" that they should throw in ( extended vehicle service or whatever) should cover the cost of the attorney letter.

I understand that. I'm just saying the pic you posted of the fender looks really bad. Like amateur bad. If that is your truck, I feel bad for ya. I hope everything works out.

Will confront them tomorrow why they kept denying sending my truck to paint shop. First they said it would be better to leave the knife marks there and wrap the film on it, now the touch up doesn't look good. Why didn't they just send it to the paint shop initially!

Also, if the paint protectant film ever needs to be removed, it looks like the touch up paint will come up with it.

Propose this scenario to the dealer:

"If I went through a few of your cars on the showroom lot and made a few swipes on the hood with an x-acto knife, what fair compensation would you demand from me to remedy this situation?"

I doubt they'll let you drag your feet in that scenario!

In your opinion, should I have left it with the knife marks instead of having those touched up?
