Thanks, with the 885 can I still adjust the Bilstein 5100? I will definitely have to get an AAL or block for the rear then

Thanks 619Hiluxlover....that's the answer I was looking for. Cause I know as soon as I bought the ones for 2nd gen, they'd come out with ones for the 3rd! Just my luck lol

Yes, you can bump one notch up. That will give you 2.5" lift but then most likely you are not going to get your alignment in factory specs, then you need to get UCAs to correct that, SPC best option

    Wat?

He's on 885s, which he shouldn't be preloading at all with 5100s, certainly not "one notch up to 2.5" of lift."

He'd be at nearly 5 inches of lift at that point and his ride would be absolutely jarring. SPC isn't the "best" option, but it's the best value option.

I'm not sure you should be giving advice if you aren't going to read what you're replying to.

Do not set the 5100s higher than .85 (second setting) if you're running aftermarket coils.

If that isn't enough lift, get a taller coil (887), a stronger coil if you have too much weight (886) or add some top plate spacers.

I don't know what you smoking or drinking, but if you read carefully I said "one noth up" not 3 notches up.

I get what you are saying. I'll probably end up going OME 885s with 5100s set at .85 with toytec 2 inch AAls in the rear for a good level look. Does that sound right?

I would install 885s and an AAL of your choice, then see how it sits after 2 weeks. Then go after your front setup with an accurate measurement of what you need to accomplish the look you want.

If you want dead level you would go with 1.5" AAL, but if you doing some towing or heavy hauling I would go with 2" AAL, leaf spring do get wear out with load and will sag faster compared to coils.

Awesome, thanks for the info. 885 is good to go with the stock shock for the time being?

Not sure on that, I've never ran stock shocks with lift coils.

If it were me, I'd do it all at once. You'll need an alignment when you install the coils, and doing it twice (once on stock shocks, once on aftermarket) would be spending that alignment money twice as well.

You probably could but that's just more work, doin it twice. Stock shocks are a bit shorter than 5100 I don't know if you would be able to thread top nut using truck weight method, It may be doable. Or just use sring compressor.

Here is pic of stock and 5100

Front and Rear lifts Tires ECGS bushing Lots of other crap +HP sticker
For those that have run rear lift blocks and AAL. (Not both at same time)

Does the pinion angle change that much to cause vibrations?

And second, for those that tow with AAL does it make a difference when towing? Good / bad difference?
I have a 4000lb trailer I camp with in the summer on a regular basis.
Weight dist. Hitch included on set up.

    Thanks for input.

So the majority are using bilstein 5100. I ran 5100 with 885's on my 4Runner.

I think the most enticing factor for the 5100s is the price and the name. I mean, you can pick up all 4 corners for a little over 300

I've run them before but have nothing to compare them to.

How good are bilstein 5100s compared to the competition? If we were to base off price they would be towards the low end but everyone seems to carry them to high standards.

How much better do the more expensive options (icon, fox, etc) hold up? Is jt worth it?
