Welcome, I too live in Ann Arbor and had moved here from AZ. I'm slowly but surely building up my truck overland style. Where in AZ did you move from?

I moved out here from Bullhead City. Small town right on the Colorado river across from Laughlin, NV. The river and the two off-road races are about the only thing it has going for it but the miles and miles of open desert was awesome. Went to college in Flagstaff as well, loved that town but not much work for an ME so I moved back to BHC and did some racing for about a year while I looked for a job. Landed one at the Chrysler Proving Grounds and made the move.

I'm down for a meet sometime. My truck is going to be down until mid to late april so my free time is tight now but I could always make time for a beer, I'll leave the bourbon to you fellas haha.

I know where Bullhead City is! I went to ERAU in Prescott, AZ and had a fraternity brother who was from Bullhead City. I basically moved here for the job as well, work for Toyota Technical Center in Saline.

Anyways, I'm down for a meet for local A2 tacoma owners!

Who's in the down river Area (Taylor)? I'm originally from Albuquerque NM, been in the area six years. Not to many Toyotas in my neck of the woods.

I'd like to get the truck driving before a meet just so I'm not showing up with my Ram or some company car haha. Still waiting for my arms and spindles, the guy building them is in the middle of moving shops so it added some time to the build. Just ordered my radiator and the rest of the miscellaneous stuff I need to get it driving. Hoping to be back on the ground mid-April. It's going to need a shakedown run so no better opportunity to do so than a meet. I'll post some photos once the goodies arrive!

The latest photos from this winter's activities...

Cut the frame horns off just after the lower control arm mounts and plated
    c2d771d97bc1fc59e0b52abf1d4c2cd6_edc9c5b7b0ebdf4da89c0a9d383d3a69d6bd299e.jpg
Engine cage as of now, waiting for the front end before I add shock mounts, support tubes and weld everything

The cell used to hang way behind the rear axle making it really hard to valve it stiff enough for jumps but soft enough for smaller hits. Pushed it forward 14" and remounted the spares
    5045516e71d51ffda8882efa9abb7cc6_1e876ce0b340781f72215f69097ea2dfd5d8b424.jpg

Added some sun visors, gussets and mounted the seats to the cage instead of the factory spot...the cab was starting to collapse and I could no longer open my center console, added grab handles and pulled the windshield to finish welding a few areas I missed and tie in the engine cage
    e56ccabe4bbb09d94207144c6e17db63_d125dc988d6231af3171b3765e5b7d9daeec658b.jpg0b393c95ab328cf97931314238224dc0_0e43ff51e398b5e7125d1fddfe51bd7c1521e404.jpg
Got the old front end removed only to find both motor mounts bent. I was going to buy Bonzens mounts but I picked up a set of bypasses at the Michigan Buggy Expo so my bank account is forcing me to build my own...no worries

Still waiting on the kit to be built but here's what it will look like

I plan on doing a build thread eventually so this will help get that started haha. Enjoy!
