when driving and listening to the radio,
the touch screen and radio shuts off and reboots randomly
will sometimes happen every 10 minutes or so.

who do i contact or is there something I should try first?

There are a few threads on this already. A couple have had the unit replaced, maybe works, maybe not. Toyota says wait for software update. Some have narrowed it down to the phone connected causing the issue. One post even mentioned a certain area he drives through, does it every time same spot. Take it to the dealer and see what they say, that way it is a least documented.

I just posted a thread on this yesterday. Happened to me yesterday about a half dozen times. Others in the thread mentioned that it happens when it's raining which is exactly what happened in my case. No rain today and no reboots. Just out of curiosity, was it raining when this happened to you?

Called the dealer and she said she's researching to see if an update is available. The problem is, when you take it to the shop, it probably won't reboot so I doubt they will fix something that they can't reproduce. If you're lucky enough to capture it on film, you could use that as proof. If you can capture it, send me the vid too so I can just tell them its my truck :)

Very keen observation. Bet that's why he posted it here.

Did you take offence to my #3rdgenproblems tag? Sorry luv. There seem to be lots of kinks popping up, unfortunately. Taking it to the dealer to have it fixed seems like a good solution.

Drove to work this morning and no problems.

Yesterday it happened a half dozen times and it was in fact raining.

it was raining (rare occurrence in Texas, 1st rain since I got the truck a couple of weeks ago.
I also have an iphone connected to it.
not sure why it would make the entire system reboot if it was an issue with the phone connecting.
takes about a minute to reboot but a pain in the arse when listening to music

Seems like some people in this section are starting to get sensitive. I didn't realize there was so much segregation between 2nd and 3rd gen members. I understand getting tired of people who just bash the 3rd gen non-stop. That's definitely not me though, and not what I was doing. ah well. I still stick with my suggestion. It's a new truck - take it to the dealer and have them determine and fix the problem. 3rd get owners - feel free to ignore me - I only have a 2nd gen with its own set of #2ndgenproblems.
