Yup, your quotes are massively inflated. I got my full OME setup with 885's, 1.5 AAL, install and life time alignment for $1300

Does the 5100 that's advertised on Amazon, that fits 05-14 Tacoma, fit the 2016?

    Nice.

I've done three complete suspensions myself.

But I think the OP doesn't have the tools or doesn't know how to tackle the situation.

And I'm guessing 883's if I just want to do a leveling with the 5100's

It's my understanding 883s are for access and single cabs. 885s for double cables and 886 for ones with heavy bumpers. You'd have to check around the forum for using 883s for double cabs. I'd imagine they'd start sagging after some time but I honestly don't know.

Do you have the space and time to do such a job?

I think $100 worth of tools would be enough to get this job done.
    breaker bar
    torque wrench
    metric socket set
    ratchet
    pliers and locking pliers

Rent a spring compression tool from your auto-parts store (free)

That is almost all you really need. You can watch these videos and you'll see that its a no brainier.
The front suspension is the hardest if you ask me.

Front bilstein 5100 with OME 884 w/trim pack, 17" fuel trophy wheels wrapped with 32" toyot open country m/t, bakflip fibermax tonneau cover, Avec 30" led light bar behind lower grille, marathon seat covers in max 5 camo pattern, trimmed front and rear mud flaps, more to come.
Granted I have a 14' but from what I've seen springs, shocks (front and rear) and leaf packs still work with 16'. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but when I purchased my 5100s the highest year choice was a 13'. To answer your question about 5100, ome springs and oem springs the reason someone might have told you you can only use oem springs with 5100s is probably due to the fact that on oem springs you can use any setting on shocks. On OME springs you have to use 5100s set at 0 because OME is already a lift spring (I may not be using the correct verbiage) and due to the load rating you do not want to add any extra preload to them. Some say the same thing about preloading the OR oem springs because they are rated heavier than sports and other models. i have had both set ups. Oem springs with 5100s set at 1.75 which the ride was awful to me so I went with OME 884x (revised springs that will not sag like previous 884 and if you buy their springs now all will be an X I believe) and 5100s set back to 0 with the taco lean 3/8" spacer (have to replace top bucket studs to longer ones) and both set ups yielded the same lift in front, around the 1.75"+ range. I'm still on stock UCAs with no problems with alignment and ride is better than stock IMHO. The only thing is my caster is maxed out at 1.5-1.7 somewhere around there when ideally I believe you want closer to the 2-2.5 but I have no negative steering problems either but may choose to upgrade UCAs down the road when I run out of stuff to mod! All other alignment are in specs and set to my choosing of camber at 0 and as close to 0 on the toe as I could still allowing for the natural minor vear to the right. I personally chose this alignment for tire wear for daily driving. I have done nothing to the rear but change oem shocks for rear 5100s and mine is perfectly level. Being a Sport that sits a littler higher than other models from factory with the OME 884x and 5100s set at 0, I get asked all the time what kind of lift I have on my truck. To me my truck sits almost, if not the same height as other models would with an all around lift to obtain full 2" lift. I maybe lacking a 1/4" give or take if that (depends on my wife's mood that day haha). Something to consider. If you want full two inch or slightly higher and be level I would go with OME 885 paired with either 5100s set to zero or OME shocks and an AAL in the back. The only thing you will have to keep in mind is one, the more you are to 2-2.5" of lift the greater need for aftermarket UCAs, and two, with pairing different shocks to OME springs you will have to use a different "trim pack" than you would when pairing OME to OME. The difference being the OME uses the ring style spacer one the bottom bucket where other shocks will have to use the top of bucket spacer. This is used only to correct the "taco lean" when using aftermarket springs because the OEM springs are side specific that compensates from factory the weight of the driver side. If you are unfamiliar with the term taco lean do a search for it because I have already used enough space lol. Hope this info helps with clarification if not I wrote a novel for no reason haha. I have looked over a 3rd gen and from appearance the suspension doesn't look like it changed as much from later 2nd gens other than the obvious looks, engine and I'm guessing driveline and gearbox/gearing and the nice ass updated bigger factory radio! I'm pretty sure I've covered as much as needed for your question and others feel free to correct or add anything I have missed.

I know I'm quoting an old post but how did things turn out when you raised the bilstein shocks to .85 with stock uca?

I had some alignment issues at .85 on stock UCA’s I had to bring it back to 0 but everyone experiences different characteristics with their trucks

I’ve got Bilstein 5100s on all 4 corners and OME 885 on stock UCAs and have a perfect alignment. Also have 1.5” blocks in rear. Part of me wishes i just dished out the extra $$ and got a 4” lift with UCAs but this gave me what I really needed which was a little extra height (2.25” front 1.5” back) and a better ride. Wheels are fuel 18” Assaults with 12mm offset Wrapped with Nitto ridge grapplers 285/65/18 with no rubbing.
