OP, you complained about the problems of the new Tacoma but your solution is to buy a Dodge, just think about that for a minute. Dodges are great other then the fact their in the shop half their life. Dodge has to be the biggest piece of crap out their right now.

dude let me give you a huge bit of advice, while the publics feedback and opinions can be very beneficial and helpful at times, more often than not, it doesn't allow us to enjoy things that really have nothing wrong with them. People have a lot of time on their hands this forum is all about diving deeper into the world of Tacoma's so naturally people are going to nit pick and analyze and even over analyze. Don't listen to the negative. If you test drove it and liked the truck buy the truck. You have to take alot of the OPINIONS and EXPERIENCES off this site with a grain of salt or you won't enjoy the greatness of this truck at all. Just my two cents.

The other day I went for a long ride in my friends Ford Explorer it shifted all the time in cruse at highway speeds lockup out ,5th, 5th lockup , back to 6th, down shifted going down hill. They all are going to do that unless you drive a stick then it's up to you.

OP I feel you I had a lexus got rid of it for a TACO. plus it was too small for my family but I don't regret getting rid of the lexus for a the TACO. but also it depends on what luxury car you have. I had the IS 250 AWD and it was too small but I did like how it had all the essential of cooled seats and heated seats. but even though I got the SR5 TACO, I would say that leather seats are over rated plus too damn hot in the summer lol. but yeah just a thought go with your gut feeling. for me it was getting a TACO.

Yes, and good reasons why the Taco needs to be ordered and needs waiting.

Indeed, in 2-3 years when Toyota works out the bugs in the Taco, he'll be ready to ditch the Ram.

I came from a Lexus IS250 and do miss the cooling seats more so than anything else but I bought a 2016 SR5 Tacoma and couldn't be happier about the switch, I love it.

    there are other Toyota options.

look into a tundra or a 4runner if you want to go a little more upscale vs a Tacoma. tundra has more options/features than a Tacoma and the 4runner has more also but can off road just as good as a Tacoma.

our house we have both, my 4runner and the wardens Tacoma.

put your big boy pants on and make a decision already

you either 'get it' and want a taco, or you don't. pretty simple.

there are PLENTY of higher MPG and cushy leather seats with 3 zone climate control out
there for similar price as tacoma

OK - as I understand it the only redeeming quality of the Ram 2500 and 3500 is the Cummins engine. Why buy a Dodge truck that has a Fiat engine rather than the Cummins? I would buy a used Ram 2500 Cummins WAY before I'd buy a new Eco diesel 1500.

OP - have you thought about a comfy-ass SUV and a utility trailer for the odd trip to the hardware store?

Tundra. Most 2016 Tundras in dealer stock are $12K off MSRP at a local dealer here. It was tempting for me to attain a Tundra instead of a Tacoma at this discounted price point, but the Tundra is just too big and it consumes a lot more fuel than a Tacoma.

The RAM is depreciating before it's even sold. Reliability of the Toyota is second to none, along with resale value. The waiting is the worst part, but I wouldn't buy something else to avoid the wait. This is my 3rd Taco and I absolutely love it. I couldn't care less about the power seats. I put it where I want it, and leave it there. One less thing to break. The fuel economy is what it is. It's also a truck. Wait for the Taco you ordered. For every negative post on here about things people are experiencing, there are 500 people who aren't having that issue. I think I'm going to start a new thread.... Good luck.

It's funny you say thay because I think 2012-15 are the best looking trucks out there and think the third gens are plain stupid looking. To each their own.

I have owned many vehicles. European, domestic, and Asian. Out of all I prefer Toyota as they seem much more reliable and issue free and that's what is most important to me over luxury and convenience.
Having said that make no mistake, all of them can have their little tantrums.
My advice is, go with what your heart desires.
But if your heart gets broken, live, learn and go with your common sense.
    Best of luck.

While I sympathize with OP needing a new ride because the current one is about to either crap out or has expensive repairs on deck (been there), I’m pretty perplexed by the rest of the post. Sounds like you want some things that the Tacoma doesn’t offer (really hung up on those power seats haha), yet you locked yourself into a deposit and a 4-6 week wait time just for a set of Predators that could’ve been purchased after the fact? The Taco must’ve had some redeeming qualities if you test drove all those other trucks and you still chose to put money down, but if the Ram enough of an impression on you to consider backing out I don’t see why you’d need validation or approval from anyone on here to stick with the Toyota.

TL;DR unless you have a chauffeur or a wealthy benefactor footing the bill on your next vehicle, you need to decide for yourself what’s best for your lifestyle and budget.

Thank you everyone. I'm moving from a VW cc, to a truck because of reliability of a truck (I have 4K in repairs the VW with only 66k miles and most was not covered under shittty little 30k warranty), the utility aspect of it (my father has a Sierra, I'm always borrowing it for something) no I don't want an suv, the fiancee' has one, I need the 4x4 around here in Pittsburgh in the winter, I'm an outdoor guy and love hunting and camping.

That's why I'm going with a truck. The reason I can't wait is because my VW inspection is due in at the end of the month. All the tires are practically bald, it needs new brakes badly, and quit frankly I'm tired of owning it and can't afford to put $1k worth of parts on a vehicle I'm getting rid of and won't see a penny of that back!

Im only considering the RAM for 3 reasons. First, MPG, getting more than 100 miles more per tank for only 2-3$ more is huge savings each month. Next is crew cab size. I'm starting a family soon and the extra size of the rear can come in handy. Lastly are the creature comforts. Yes the taco can be ordered with some, however they put it out of my Max budget price range.

I like everything else more about the Tacoma, that's why I ordered it. However, due to my current vehicle situation I have begun to think about it.
I can get every other full size truck for the same price as the Taco, but the MPG part is why I am thinking about RAM. That's really big for me as I drive about 50 miles a day for work and we always drive back to her parents house in Philly.

My main purpose of this thread was just to gauge what people have done that may have been in my situation. Maybe someone would think of something that I hadn't.
