I went to Jim Norton on the NW side of okc. First time I've ever had my truck at the dealership, but they were really nice, professional, quick, and honest.

Picked it up and everything looks good. It took 3 hours and it seems to be riding better now and sitting a bit higher than it was.

I've dealt with several dealerships in OKC when car shopping, and they are one of the better ones for sure.

Yes, both hurry up and wait letters.

I called the dealer about it this week and was told that they have not received any springs yet.

I'm from Massachusetts and also have not received a letter telling me a remedy is available, but after seeing people here getting there new leaf springs, I went on Toyotaowners.com, entered my vin and it's telling me a remedy is available. I may wait till the last of the salt is put down and a good rain storm has cleaned the roads, so I can apply fluid film to the leaf springs, before salt can get between them, just to be safe.

Does anyone know if they have to remove the rear shocks, when installing the leaf springs?

    Thanks,
    Mark

Did you get the letters telling you about the leaf spring recall before you purchased them? They should reimburse you for them, but I have heard leaf springs bought after the recall will not be reimbursed, I hope I'm wrong for your sake. Maybe you could return the Dakars, if Toyota would swap them out, or reinstall the old leaf springs to get the new set, but I doubt it would be worth the hassle if you can afford it.

Talked to my service advisor today when I dropped my truck off for the frame inspection...he didn't know crap...claims their Regional Toyota Rep is telling them Utah is still at least a year out on the remedy as there "aren't any springs available." I even mentioned the internal doc I have seen stating early April and he blew me off...oh well...all I wanted him to do was tag me in the system so I would be one of the first few to get the call when they do roll out the remedy...heavy sigh!

Call any and all stealerships within the area you are willing to drive. Ask all them assholes to help you out.

I bought my truck 3 hours from my house because that Lithia would do anything I asked and they hated the Lithia that is 5 miles from my front door. Yes I drove 3 hours to get my truck instead of 5 minutes. WELL WORTH IT!!!!

One of them is bound to help you out plus it has to get done at some point. Something gives way and fucks you, your truck, etc. up.......lawsuit could happen.

I am located in TN and expecting my letter later this month sometime. The springs were installed earlier this month so guess I will see what Toyota plans to do on reimbursing me.
