Anyone have any ideas for this? Want a bed cover that protects my gear while still allowing for a bed rack for hauling kayaks, etc. BakFlip CS is not available for this model and the company says it doesn't have any plans for a compatible one. Thanks so much in advance!

BTW, my model is a 2016, TRD OR, Double Cab, short bed.

This is exactly what I am looking for. I am leaning toward the TruckCoversUSA roll tonneau (rolls into a canister up against the bed of the truck). I am researching options for racks that do not rely on the truck's bedside rails. TruckCoversUSA makes a rack system that fits into top-side rails. I just need to determine if what they have could hold a roof top tent, which is my aim. If I can find this, I can safely stow my gear in the bed and still have the rack holding stuff. (I have the TDR OR double cab as well).

Check out Toynado's build. He has the tonneau and uses a Yakima rack for his bikes.

Thanks for the response. My problem with the TruckCovers roll tonneau is that it takes up precious space in our already small bed. A cover like the BakFlip allows it to fold all the way up against the back window and allow for full use of your bed. Crazy that it is this hard to find one for such a popular vehicle...

Hmmmm . . . wonder if there is a third-party rail system that would allow a bed rack to tie into a top rail and not interfere with a fold-up tonneau? Might see if Yakima or Thule or someone else has something. My only problem is probably none of those will make a system strong enough to hold a roof top tent.

If you find a solution, please be sure to post back here.

I definitely will. Calling people directly today to see if somebody has or knows of one that just isn't listed yet. Toynado's build is great but I need a rack that is as tall as the cab or so. To facilitate having kayaks both in the bed and on top of the rack. Love the TruXedo hard rolling covers. They have the invisa rack + cover system but that is a soft cover. http://www.truxedo.com/invisarack/land.php About to call them and see if a tougher cover will work as well.

Really appreciate the links. But does that allow for a cab height rack? That's what I'm going for.

In case anyone else is wondering, it would appear that the Truxedo Titanium bed cover will work with Voodoo's high rise bed rack bars. While not the cab-height bed rack + cover system I was going for, at least it is a hard rolling (more secure than soft ones) cover and a bed rack of sorts. That plus the Frontrunner slimline II should get me a good amount of utility. For a ton o' $$$$ but hey, that's how it goes. http://tonneaucovers.com/p-6017-truxedo-titanium-tonneau-cover.aspx

@kevint7: As I understand, Voodoo said their bed racks would not work with a tonneau in the closed position, right? Or are you speaking about a rail system in addition to the Truxedo that would allow a bed rack to be installed while the tonneau is closed?

Look into Pro Rac systems. Think they have some that are designed to work with tonneau covers.

I talked to a bak rep while he was here for a truck show. They are not planning on a bak flip cs anytime soon if ever. He said our best bet is the bak revolver with the tracrac sr (which also isn't out yet). Sorry guys. We're sol for now.

I sent a message to Tracrac about when that is coming out and received this response...

"Thank you for contacting TracRac Customer Service. We will be offering a rack very soon for the 2016 Tacoma. Since the rack will clamp into the tract that runs along the bed, it will not work with a cover. Most accessories for the 2005 - current Tacoma use that same track for their installation. With our system, unfortunately it is either the rack or the cover but not both."

Getting a lot of conflicting responses on compatibility...

Yes, TracRac looked promising, but I guess it's a no go. I have to keep going back to the Yakima rack that apparently is compatible with the TruckCoversUSA cover. I know Toynado uses it on his build. But, I'm really looking for track rails that can hold a rack capable of bearing the load of a rooftop tent.

I'm beginning to think there's nothing out there. I may have to opt for a rack over the cab of the truck if I want to go that route, because I will not do without the tonneau.

Surely, there's got to be another option.

The revolver is designed for the tracrac and is available with other models. The bak rep seemed convinced it would be out within a year but he wasn't a tracrac rep.

    Looks like we're still looking.

I don't even have my truck yet and a lot of the motivation to buy a new truck was based on the fact i expected it to be more versatile with a short bed and bakflip cs. I'm kinda bummed but i may consider getting the revolver and trying to see if i can just build a regular pipe rack around it. I hope not though, it'll be cheaper to work overtime and buy it than to pass on overtime and build it.

The revolver moves the existing cleat rail down and slightly out though. So things that are made to attach to the factory rail will have to take that into consideration. Here is a screen shot from installation video.

So my buddy just bought a new Tacoma as well and his came with the new factory bed cover. Check out how it attaches. Had no idea there were bolt holes underneath the plastic on the bed rails. They literally just cut it to expose the bolt holes and mount the cover that way. Interesting... I could definitely see utilizing those to make a rack + cover.
