AWESOME!!! see i knew a proper CB would fix alot of issues.

My only concern is that it looks like the bearing itself is not sealed. how does the bearing keep dirt out?

Looks like your driveshaft may either be A. Out of balance, or B. Have bad angles. You may want to figure out which it is first before you do anything to it, because not even a new carrier bearing will help and will actually be ruined quickly if you have either one of those wrong.

It looks decent at best. Do you have take off shudder? You may want to consider doing the mod regardless as a prevantative maintenance item.

You know, that's a great question. The bearing itself I believe is a high quality race bearing that they use for those applications, so it is sealed similar to the style wheel bearings are, but as far as shielding and the rest goes I am not sure. I am not even sure if you could build a makeshift greaseable nipple for it either. Do you have any ideas?

well i just see in the pictures of the bearing by itself exposed grease. I couldnt make out any seals like you would see on a sealed bearing. Let me email inland driveline supply. Ill report back what they say.

That's not a bad idea. I'll see if I could call them and ask them as well. Remember, this CB is for a ranger, but it fits ours due to ours having the same ID specs as their driveshaft.

That was from about 2 years ago. pulled off the cb and replaced it and the ujoint, no vibrations since! though like i said, my current cb is getting pretty sloppy, but that's after 2 years of hard use, and i still can't feel any vibes. will probably upgrade to the one you have when the time comes

That's only one shield though. I see what you are saying though. We would need two of them to better seal up the CB wouldn't we? That also would have had to go on before they reassembled everything yeah?

yes, they go on before. I have seen some driveshafts that have them built in on the non yoke side so only one would need to be put on.

Hmm I see what you are saying… I should call up Inland and see what they think about all this. I have this all together now so pulling it apart would suck just for a shield you know?

Big time. I emailed them to see if the bearing itself inside the part number you used is a sealed unit, if it is.... no worries run it!

There are mixed reviews about it. Some people complain about them vibrating, some don't. I'd rather just modify factory to make it a better unit. That way I know there will be no potential issues.

I have had it installed for about 3 days now. It has been an absolute godsend in terms of NVH. I don't feel a thing from it and it keeps the driveshaft nice and straight during take offs and acceleration as it should. I have driven it both highway and city and in both situations it has performed outstanding!
