A friend of mine has had nothing but problems with his Dodge Ram. If you're tired of sitting at the dealer all of the time with the VW, Dodge isn't your answer.

    1.) I didn't say I required it.
    2.) I didn't say for convenience

I did say adjustability (note not frequency).

I prefer a seat that allows adustment of the rake (or tilt) on the lower portion of the seat. Most manual seats provide fore and aft adjustment as well as recline and in the case of the Tacoma a driver side lumbar adjustment (in most I believe) but, one is not able to adjust seat height or the pitch of the seat.

Thank you, this is probably the single most reason I'm probably going to stick with the Tacoma. It's hard when you put everything on the table and you can second guess yourself and your decision. That's what I did, I started to second guess things. That's why I made this post. Not to promote or diss each. While, but to figure out what I missed when thinking about each. So thank you all.

Yea. Diesel and gas is cheap now. But not too long ago here in WI diesel was proced nearly identical to premium gas. $4+/gal.

But then again grabbing 28mph hiway makes everything justifiable.

Never owned a diesel. But one consistent thing i have heard is the repairs are more. Just hearsay...

    Good luck.

Since you are unsure I would cancel the order and step back and wait a year or so.

There are a couple other things to consider when looking at the EcoDiesel - DEF fluid and oil changes on the EcoDiesel are $$$$. It really puts a hurting on the overall cash savings of the extra MPG, especially if diesel is significantly more expensive than gas. Just some things to think about.

This^^^^^^^^ Rethink it, it's a major purchase and it's allot easier to wait a few
months or so than it is to regret it and then try and get rid of it. At least that's what
I always tell myself and I've never listened! :D

Going to drop my 2 pennies here:infantry: I've owned Chevy, GMC, Ford, & Dodge all of them required constant dealer only type repairs. Maybe by chance I'm just that unlucky. ( Not a chance) But that being said 12 years ago I went Toyota traded dodge ram for a Solara:yay: then went tundra:help: gas crisis pushed me into a Camry couldn't take it went taco :woot:and will never let it go. Out of all of the Toyotas the resell was on point for the condition and no repairs other then maintenance. I now own an 2015 Tacoma DBLB done DOC style and a 2016 4Runner ( Babies little 4x4 toy ) when I want to roll around with heated butt cheeks and all that fun stuff I roll in the eco friendly 4runner but when I want to own the road and go where I please how I please I take the taco.

Like you, I have a 2016 Taco on order (SR5-DC-LB) to replace my 2006 Honda Element. She had 130k miles on her and had been totally solid, but I just knew that things were going to start needing repair. I ordered the Taco at the end of November, and given late February / early March as delivery window.

Assuming that the truck would show up any time, I put the Element up on Craigslist the first week of March, and sure enough one morning the electrical system went pear shaped and she refused to start (new alternator, new battery). And then the rear breaks started grinding (new break pads). After ~$1,000 in repairs, I found a buyer and sold it for a reasonable price last week.

So we're now a single car family (my wife has a 2015 4Runner SR5, purchased last year from same dealer). Logistics are a bit challenging with 2 jobs and 2 kids in different schools - but we'll make do until the Taco arrives (currently slated between March 17 - 21). I'm really looking forward to the Taco, and I think it will be worth the wait. But the delays and lack of firm delivery date have been quite frustrating.

I would reiterate what a previous poster said - a vehicle is usually the 2nd most expensive purchase you will make, so don't feel rushed into getting something you're not happy with. Don't settle. Keep driving the VW (assuming it's safe), or see if the dealership is willing to give you a loaner (or subsidize a rental) until the Taco arrives.

I'm more worried about having issues with an older, or higher mileage vehicle once it's out of warranty over a new vehicle. I've never done this before, but his being my first Toyota, and it being a int year redesign I did go for the 7yr/100k warranty because I got it super cheap from the dealer. That does give me a little more peace of mind.

I'm in a similar boat. I have a loaded MGM OR on order, to be built next week, but am concerned about cabin space for our family of four plus dog and my one Taco test drive had the 2100-2300 RPM buzzing issue. I'm starting to seriously think about the 4Runner, and my dealer has a couple of MGM TEPs coming next week, too. My main concern with the 4R is sacrificing cargo space for cabin space... plus losing some of the modern bells and whistles that the Taco has: keyless entry, push button start, BSM, etc. Looks like the 4R won't catch up there until MY 18.

Why did you buy the extended warranty already? Didn't it start right away so you're
basically paying for half of it for no reason as we have the 3/36k for free from Toyota?

Get the 4Runner if you have a family. That backseat in the Taco is CRAMPED! Get a cargo box for the roof for extra space if you need it for the family vacations and road trips. I folded down the seats in my friends '16 4Runner and I could lay down flat and I'm 6'2" tall. Can't do that in my DCSB Tacoma!

Huh? It's 7 year / 100,000 miles. It's not 100,000 miles from mileage on the car when you buy the warranty. For example, if I bought the warranty with 35,999 miles on the car, the 100k miles won't be valid thru 135,999! It's not like Apple Care with a Mac! And 36,000 miles is not 50% of 100,000, it's 36%, roughly more than 1/3rd.

I'm 6', my wife is all but 6', and my older son is over 6'2" currently and only 14. In the test drive I had my wife in the passenger seat with my older son behind her and they weren't ecstatic about it. She was close to the dash and my son was sitting with his legs to the side. So it would definitely be an issue when we load the whole crew. I also rode with just my boys and obviously that was fine, with room left for the dog to fit in too. The catch is that my wife isn't really outdoorsy and mostly goes out to placate me. The Taco would work great for the more frequent dog and boys trips, although it'd also provide more ammo for my wife to skip out.

I'm only 5,7" and my fiancée is 5,4", so that's not a big thing and I doubt our kids will be big. Like I said I'll prob stay with the taco but I'm still going to dodge to take a test drive, it's free and never hurts just to know.
