Since rebuild I de cranked (no idea why) but here's where I'm at now to regain my original height. No Fkn idea what happened but I'm not complaining about lack of pre load. Was previously cranked 1.5" of threads.

 

Use to be a huge fan of optima. But I've got 2 of these laying on my garage floor that won't hold a charge. Just don't think they are what they use to be.

I say the alternator is all you will need. Now when you add a fridge a second battery would be nice. The rest of will you run everything at once, probably not, will it be running when your truck is off, probably not, if it is then dual up, if not why add all the extra weight and money on two batterys. Unless your spending days camping without driving and running power.

 

Really? Never stopped to think of it like that. I dont imagine ill ever be running ALL of the lights and compressor and everything all at once, unless im out in the desert or something, and I'll probably never leave it all on with the truck off. I just figured with such a large power demand, a secondary battery would be good to have.

When your truck is running the alternator handles the load. If its not big enough then it will kill your battery's. But led lights draw very little. The winch and compressor draw a lot but they run for short periods so no worries there. Now sound systems can be a big draw as you will run that constantly so depending on how much it depends on the amps you run. Now the fridge its a different beast. You will want a battery supply for that and the solor charging is awesome idea.
Me if I'm going to be camping more then a few days that would be a sweet set up,

Who did I just spot on 880S through oakland? MGM doublecab, bed rack with RTT and rotopax, f/r armor. Nice looking rig!

 

Second batteries are great. Takes all the worry out of running lights and a fridge while camping.
I bought an almost new (with receipt) group 35 Sears Platinum on CL for $120 4 years ago. Picked up a group 34 Sears Marine Platinum 3 years ago. The 35 crapped out 4 months ago. Took it to Sears to see if there was any warranty. They asked for my phone number and saw that I got the 34 a few years back. In their confusion, they ended up giving me a new "Gold" AGM Diehard 34 for free (to replace the Craigslist battery).

I'm not sure about the Sears Platinum's longevity, but the guarantee is worth it IMO.

The camper came with 2 batteries, so I currently have 4 batteries in my truck .
One for each corner... to balance things out.

Had an Optima maybe 12-14 years ago and it was garbage. Went through 3 in less than 2 years.

Apparently my package of cod leaked it's juices all over my rear Weathertech liner.

Yay for not being in my carpet, and thank God my fiancée listened to me when I said don't put food bags on my seats.

Yeah thanks for the reminder, i need to order rear weathertechs. Wife let the kid throw a full bottle of formula on the floor and didn't tell me, or pick it up. Go to clean out the truck on Monday, find a whole bottle of formula soaking in to the carpet. Still wet so i was able to soak up alot of it...but...and I thought of you, You didn't get to make the first crusty white stain

 

You need to urinate on the other side now to accomplish that acheivement
