I will be visiting the dealer soon to address this problem but I bet they wont cover the work. This is on a 2012 Tacoma TRD with 19,500 miles. Every bump I hit the steering wheel shakes briefly and its annoying as hell. I finally had time to put it on a drive on hoist and I watched as a buddy wiggled the steering wheel and this is what I saw.

Its also causing my front tires to wear on the inside edges.

No it's not. Your alignment is. That's pretty much normal play you definitely would not want to drive a vehicle with a solid mounted rack and pinion it would beat you to death.

I'm pretty sure mine weren't that bad when I replaced them, but even after replacing them I still had movement.

Yeah that looks like normal movement for a rubber bushing to me also. Agree that you just need an alignment. However there was a long thread on urethane rack bushings just the other day if you want it to be a lot tighter.

The urethane ones are stiffer but with that comes more fatigued driving. Watch a video of rally car drivers many of their racks are solid mounted notice how their arms are are being beat around by the steering. The old stuff with a lot of moving parts idler arms etc did not need to have flexible mounting because the linkage had more than enough movement to make up for that. If the wheels are sitting on the ground or a drive on lift the bushings are going to move just hanging there they won't move at all. My last 2nd gen. had 285K on it I hauled a lot of fire wood on my 80 acres plus 100 mile round trips to work it still had the original bushings.
