@Cascadia Tents maybe you should get a bunch of fabric swatches to send out to folks who are debating the summit vs regular

Yes. But it will still need to be aired out like any other tent.

I'm still a little confused. So the 380g material would be more apt for extreme climates. That's what I'm gathering.

Yes sir. Thicker canvas style material vs lighter weight "regular" tent type material

Honestly....They the 280 and the 380 are great. I use them both. Heavier canvas most definitely will take the harsh weather better.

I wouldn't really call the materials of an RTT "regular" if by regular you are comparing them to a standard ground tent. The canvas of the RTT's is much heavier duty

I think the summit edition a no brain just based on the longevity aspect. I'm sure they both hold up well but I would think the 380 will outlive the 280, never mind all the other upgrades that will increase the life.

Where at in Montana? I'm in Bozeman and there are a couple of other folks here from MT as well. One is close to Billings or in Billings as well.

Thanks guys! I think I get it now.

So if this started in april will we be able to pick it up immediately? (1st or 2nd week of April) Or would we have to wait? I'm trying to make sure I can get off work to get it.

Sweetgrass or anything close to it. I still have to drive a good 300 miles to get to Sweetgrass as it is. Shipping into cnd is frightful!

Hey everyone I would love to jump in on this as I am from the cascades myself. I was curious about mounting seems nothing holds more then 200 lbs and I don't see how you can mount These over your cab with no issue when you have you and a wife inside. Can someone shed light on how they did it I searched the forum and was not getting great results.

Aside from the oem roof rack, every rack I have seen is suitable. 2 factors you may not be thinking of:

    1. The 200lb rating is for when the vehicle is in motion, accounting for all types of movement. When you and your wife are up there, the truck will be parked. It can handle much more than 200 lbs of static weight

    2. When the tent is deployed, the ladder is holding up one side of it, and effectively taking on about 1/2 of the weight that's up there.

So jump in here, get a tent, throw it on your roof, and party on.

Or continue to be a fearful ground dweller. Your choice :D
