It's for my 2015. I don't think TRD has them for 2016's yet. URD might have one though. I thought I read that somewhere on here. Although the thread about broken shifters kinda steered me away from them.

Just checked their site and I don't see anything for the 2016.

I have a question, that hopefully you guys might be able to answer.
My tacoma is an 08 6spd trd offroad edition. Just to the left of the steering where there are 3 switch spots. The middle one is a clutch cancel button for starting. The one to the left has no wires going to it. However, the one on the right does have a wire set connected to it. But it's a switchblank. Does anybody know what this would control if a button were here? I was curious if this might be an option for A-trac.

I'm not sure they had A-TRAC in 08. The bottom 3 on mine are VSC off, clutch start cancel, and the inverter/bed power outlet. I think anyway.

I wanted a 1st gen, and couldnt find a stick so I went AT in my 2003 Prerunner CrewCab.
    I miss the stick.

I did drive a 2007 TRD CrewCab 6 speed. I thought the clutch throw/travel was brutally long and didnt want the 4WD or the payments so I went cheaper with the 2003.

Thanks! I'll have to check that. I have a button for the inverter but it's on the top row. It may be VSC. I was going to put a switch on either side of the clutch cancel button, one for front lights and one for rear. But when I saw the wires, seemed like a good time to stop and ask some questions. If all that's missing is a button to add another option. I'd rather do that.

Count me in! 6 M/T DCSB OR.

I came from a 5 M/T Wrangler with 33s and drive on the sand once a week at least.

I was really worried about driving on the sand and thought I would need wider tires after seeing alot of dbl cabs having trouble on the beach.

But once i put mine in 4LO rear locked with the tires at 30psi(cold), I found 1st could get me out of deep sand and starting in second could let me quickly get into 3rd so i could cruise at a decent speed with the rpms down.

Not to mention getting 18-19mpg a tank is icing on the cake(Mostly stop and go, no highways, never go over 65, 30psi cold).

Now i am in love! Best new truck for Off Road use IMHO!

I am going to totally derail this thread and the current discussion but it is my thread so I can do what I want....:D

Will Toyota ever put a manual or a diesel in the Tundra? I would sell my Duramax tomorrow if they would. Anybody think either will ever happen?

I switched to Red Line MT-90 at 30k miles and it smooths the shifting out a little bit, but not enough for me to shout it from the mountain top. IMHO, Toyota manual transmissions seem to like MT-90 more than any other brand of gear oil (Mobil 1, Royal Purple). I use it in the transfer case also because it meets the specs needed for the TC gear oil. Only problems are that MT-90 is harder to find, costs about $15 a quart and seems need to a 30k mile change interval. I use regular Valvoline gear oil in the diffs because it does the job.

Never . I don't think they have a trans for it in the parts bin and they're not outsourcing anytime soon (aka the recent Titan & Daimler love child). Their tundra also has such little market share to begin with- let alone provide niche options to those few people.
Not to mention the MT crowd is literally a dying bread making up on average less than 10% of buyers. And every manufacturer is being pressured to maximize efficiency.

I'm telling ya - we have the last gen North Merican' MT pick up!! :burnrubber:

That's true. I wonder if they will do away with the manual during the 3rd Gen life or if the 4th Gen will be the one to loose it. I'll buy and end of production third generation if it's the 4th that will lose it.

I would like a transmission from the last MT year mounted on a truck from the first year it stops vibrating.

That's what I've heard. Do you happen to know if there may be any warranty issues if it's not dealer installed?

Honestly...I don't know....but my opinion is it shouldn't be a issue. It is a very east install. 4 bolts and speeded on gasket.
Do a google search. "TRD short shifter install" one of the first things that come up is a great write up with pictures from xrunderground. That is what I used.

Yea I've checked the instructions and that thread actually. It does seem pretty simple. I'm just wondering if the dealer would say something if I install it, and the trans needs some warranty work or something.

So long as you follow the instructions on the install with a good seal, there's nothing to worry about.
