Awesome thread. I wish I could post some of the lacerations I've sutured or fractures I've reduced.

I didn't build it hoping for your approval, I built it because it meets mine!
    October 30th, 2015.
Was riding my supermoto, someone made a left through the intersection in front of me. No time to react.

    Broken left femur and hip
    Broken right femur
Broke right arm (radius and ulna)
    Multiple abrasions to my knees
    And much more

I was wearing a top of the line Arai helmet, top of the line Sidi boots, high end Alpinestars jacket, and top of the line Dainese gloves. Saved me from more injuries, specifically brain/neck/back.

Three surgeries; one for my legs, one for my arm, and one to insert a catheter/filter into my heart to catch and break up clots.
Got full length titanium rods in both femurs. Two pins holding the right leg together. A pin and a large screw/pin/auger looking thing in my left hip through the femur and rod.
Right arm has a 13cm titanium plate and 7 screws on one bone and an 8cm plate and 7 screws on the other.

Was in a coma and intubated/on a breathing machine for 10 days. Had pneumonia during it all.

    26 days in the hospital.

Doctors said I wouldn't walk for 4-6 months. I started walking after 45 days.

I have physical therapy 4 times a week. Getting better everyday.

Oh, and no more bikes for me. My hip and arm won't let me. The supermoto was totaled in the accident and I sold my 1199S Ducati once I got back home.

Holy shit man, glad you're alive.

Thanks for sharing your story, that's outta control! Bikes are dangerous machines when other drivers are oblivious to who and what is around them.

I'm glad to be alive as well! Could have been much worse. I'll take broken bones over a brain injury any day.

I had my fun on bikes. Lots of miles and got to own and ride quite a few badass machines. I was a pretty decent rider, but as you said, it's other people you have to worry about.

Me too! It's been a rough ride (pun intended) but I'm getting better. I'll never be at 100% again but I'm pushing to get as close as possible.

I'm happy to be walking too! I accepted the fact that something like this could happen when I started riding. But it sucks that it did, in fact, happen

Pretty shitty, no lie. I'm almost exclusively on the iPhone now cause typing with my thumbs is easier due to less rotation and dexterity with my right wrist/hand
