i've got fuzzy understanding as to who is the manufacture. I'm pretty sure the Sears G31 was an item specified by sears and produced by Odyssey. As far as I know the sears item of desire is no longer available via sears. I bought the Odyssey Group 31 deep cycle after finding a similar sears product was no longer available. It seems the battery manufacturer can produce an item to spec for various Brand names, a G31 by brand XX may not have the same specs as the G31 produced under the brand name of the battery manufacturer producing brand XX. I'm new to battery choices, and the Odyssey G31 may or may not live up to my expectations, I can say that corner of the truck is closest to the ground. so as I understand it, I want a group 27 as a starter battery, and have the group 31 to run accessories, with larger alternator...still researching

Yeah, I'm not up to date on batteries. My info is 3 - 4 years old. I planned to get a group 31 house battery, but it wouldn't fit (too tall) over the passenger fender. I think @Iggy. has done some recent research on this. That was the Sears G31 Platinum marine, so maybe the Odyssey is lower? It fits in the stock location, and you could always make the passenger- side G27 your starting battery. More cables obviously. Also Iggy's tray is lower and sits closer to firewall than mine, so the G31 might fit there. It would be close.
The stock OR 140amp alternator has been fine so far.

Yeah I've got a 'tool box' going in the bed once the bedcage is made, should fit dual batteries and my ARB Compressor. I'm thinking for now I'll just do one really good battery and do the alternator upgrade, and then down the road when I go more expo style, I'll go for dual batteries. Now I just need to figure out what group battery size I need and then I can start clicking buttons to buy one
