That's a great idea to take them on and off, I'm way to lazy to swap back and forth. How are you gonna bend them? Do you have a bender or access to one at work?

That's the tricky part. I don't have an accrual bender but I have ways of bending it at work. That's if I'm going to bend them. I'll know more of what I'm going to do once I design them.

I'm gonna try to make sliders kinda like this since I don't have a tubing bender. Any suggestions on wall thickness ? I don't get free stuff at work but the roads and dumpsters in the oil patch are loaded with so much steel and iron. Material is free if you stop and pick it up off the roads.

The thickness your looking for is 120 wall or 3/16. You could use 1/4 but that's a little overkill. I see a lot of square tube used for sliders or even rectangle tube. It's all up to you. There is no right or wrong way. Also make sure you gusset the tube coming off the truck frame. It will help a lot. Good luck feel free to hit me up with any other questions.

On this page you'll see a buddy of mine square sliders. They look nice. If I was to redo my sliders I would go this route.

    Lol

No way in hell you take them on and off all the time. Id bet good money that after doing it once or twice..they'd just stay on

15s are better I think. But he asked between 16s and 17s. Not 15s

If I had to change Id go to 17s

Seriously? 3/16? That's as thick as the frame iron. 14 gauge would work just fine. What am I missing that it needs to be that thick?

Suspension, 33s, some armor... Rust, Gray wire and 2Low, and more. T4r is stock.
The point of sliders is to take the beating so the body doesn't. At times it may have the entire weight of your rig on it. How strong does it need to be is up to you and what you want it to be capable of handling... Even the frame isn't always strong enough...

That's fine. You use 14 gauge. He asked me what I would use and I told him. It's not a big deal.

Definitely a minimum of 3/16". Mine are 1/4".

Ok, good I was thinking at least .120 up to 1/4" leaning toward whatever is free. Who cares about weight I got plenty of power with the Supercharger:burnrubber:

Your probably right if I'm being lazy. But I've done quite a bit of belly pan drops on D9 dozers and large loaders. So dropping a 1/4 steel 4x2 plate is a walk in the park.( I'll keep telling myself that when I have to do it :D ) I just need to make sure when I design how I mount it the bolts come in and out easy. You know the hardest part is fighting the bolts specially after you beat the shit out of the plate and it's not the same.

I thought I would try the Cooper Discoverer MTPs (285/75/16).

yea i don't want to drop the weight of my truck on a chunk of tube that is just gonna dent and bend.

If you do..well..then go for it.

It wasn't too bad, just a little messy. Remove the wheels, skids, CVs, diff. The biggest hangup we had was on the bolts that mount the diff. Only took a couple hours.
