I made an appointment to get the frame inspected and they told me they'll replace the springs before they spray it. It's also being done on a region by region basis so I'm assuming it hasn't been rolled out in your region.

My 2007 TRD OR Spring were replaced today...94,000 miles. I bought Bilstien 5100 from 4 wheel parts and the dealer installed the shocks and springs. Rides nice...now I need the fronts done.

I'm curious if the dealership charged you to install your rear shocks, when they replaced the leaf springs? I was going to do the same things, but they were going to charge me to replace the shocks. I thought the shocks were removed when the leaf springs are replaced, but I might be mistaken though.

    Thanks,
    Mark

My dealer emailed me and said mid April they'll start replacing leafs.

I'd like to replace the shocks with 5100s too while they're replacing the leafs.

My Toyota dealer charged me $45 to install the Bilstein 5100 shocks on both sides which I think it not a bad price so I went with it. If it was over $50, I would have installed the shocks myself. I believe, when Toyota installs the New leaf spring pack, only the lower shock mount is freed. It's not difficult to replace the rear shocks. The Toyota tech already loosened the lower shock mounts.

BTW, I thought the new Spring pack would raise the rear a bit. Maybe it was my imagination when I picked it up yesterday. I swear it looked higher in the rear. I measured to the bottom of my trailer hitch receiver and I recorded 16". After the install it is still 16". WTF. Anyway, the shocks and fresh springs do improve the ride greatly.

Anyway, I may switch to the OME Dakar Spring Packs later when I install Bilstein 6112 (2.15" setting), Total Chaos UCA with 883 Coil springs for a heavy Pelfrebilt front plate bumper and possibly their rear plate bumper too.

My 2003 Jeep TJ Rubicon is my offroad vehicle and money pit with 4" suspension, 35" Toyo MT tires, 5.13 re-gear (too much stuff to list). My Tacoma is my daily driver.

I was quoted $156 for labor on the rear and $310 for labor on the front + $89.99 for an alignment, so I think I may try to replace front and back myself and only have an alignment performed. I watched a video, that shows how to install the front shocks without using a spring compressor, but I'm not sure if it will be as easy to install as the video shows.

    Thanks for the info.

    Mark,

Wheelers Offroad will assemble Bilstein front shocks and coil spring set for $134. This also includes new shock hardware so it's a drop-in (so they say). You can pick your spring. I am hoping I can do this upgrade this summer.

Had a leaf break last year and replaced with the new 4 pack the same day along with coating my frame. Yesterday I just got another letter in the mail about leaf Spring recall. Do they still send the letters even after you have had them replaced?

Just filled up my tank, drove home and found my truck unloading the gas all over the road. This has been a known issue since 2014. How is it not fixed yet?

HORY SHET. I thought it was just an extremely rare thing that is crazy. Guess they don't recall for nothing

I received an email confirming that they got my reimbursement claim:

"Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. We have received your request for reimbursement and your claim is pending review. Your reimbursement case number is xxxxxxxxx.

We will make every effort to evaluate and respond to you within 45 days. If for any reason you have not received a response within 6 to 8 weeks, please contact our Customer Experience Center at 1(800) 331-4331"

I'll keep y'all updated. They should be glad to reimburse my $400 claim considering how much it would have cost them if I had a dealer do it.

I agree, reading a little bit earlier in this thread it seems like the bill to Toyota is around $1300. So if they only have to give you 400 for a toytec leaf pack they should be happy about all the money that they are saving
