Yup pretty dumb. I was in on a group buy through TAP. They were such a joke and couldn't even get me half of the lift after months on end.

Hah! Sucks, doesn't it. Took Chris and I about 4 hours... although we had a couple issues. It was kind of a pain in the ass. But unfortunately it's gotta be done. I'm not sure I would trust the Toyota TSB - I keep reading of guys that have had it done but the vibes eventually come back.

What clip did you set the 6112's at? I put mine at #3 and they've settled to just under 2". I'm thinking of going to #4, although I don't want my ride any stiffer than it already is.

Yeah the grinding was apparent pretty quickly. I set my 6112's on #4 clip, Dakar's and 5160s in the back. Of course I forgot to measure pre lift but this thing looks levelled. I am hoping the front settles down because I like rake. Surprisingly I don't find the ride that stiff, I mean it is stiff but its controlled. I wish I hadn't bought c rated 6 ply tires cuz they are stiff too.

I'd be surprised if you didn't still have some sort of rake with those dakars. I'll probably end up having to go dakar eventually, but for now just using the band-aid AAL. In the end I'd like 1.5-2" of rake.

I put heavy E-tires on last week, and, yeah, they stiffen things up a bit - not to mention I feel it in the acceleration. That's not to say I'm unhappy with them though. Once I finally get off-road with them, I think they'll justify themselves a bit more.

I still have some rake but I like a lot of rake. I am trying to put some miles on the new setup before I get it aligned. It doesn't track all that bad right now but want to break things in a bit. I have nothing to compare to other than stock but I still feel every bump it's just much more controlled rebound and response. I'm quite happy with my choices. Plus with the Dakar's I can actually sit on the tail gate and not have the rear end drop down three inches.

I like rake too. I want to be able to load my bed up and not have my bumper scraping the pavement. I think I may do the shackle flip first though. That might get me at the rake I want.

I did suspension and tires separately, and I think suspension was the biggest contributor to stiffness. For me, especially in the rear since I don't normally run with weight in the bed. The tires didn't help though.

Well at least someone used them. Chris wouldn't let me put them on.

Need pics of your new lift, man!

    Night.

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
Looks good, @DormaTaco. Did you install the Dakars in the standard config, no add a leaf or swapping leafs around? I'll be getting those when I up size my tires. Are those 285's?
I have the 6112's as well. Looks like a few of us in MN wanted a little more than 5100 but not interested in the cost and maintenance of a big name coil over.
Has anyone looked into the possibility of rebuilding the 6112 for extended travel? Camburg offers a special version thats extended travel. I haven't received a response from them yet if its possible. Would be nice to throw on some aftermarket UCAs and have mid travel.

Yup I put the Dakar's in as is and tires only went with 265/75/16. Wanted 17" wheels this style but didn't want a wider tire as the wheel would have been a 9" wide wheel. I am pleased. I too clearcoated the shocks with a quality two part paint. Camburg UCA with Moog ball joint

We're having a little Tacoma get-together this Friday, 6:30, at Champps in Ridgedale.

You guys should join us. We'll probably talk a bit about South Dakota - but also would be good to meet people.

I suggest we park on the south side of the parking lot for potential cool pics.

You weren't kidding.... looks pretty level to me. That surprises me with Dakars. Looks good!

I just used a spray-on clear coat. I cleaned them up a couple weeks ago and could tell the clear coat was flaking off a bit. Not sure how long it'll last. I sprayed another coat on, but it'll be the last time. I don't want to keep dealing with these. If they're gonna rust they're gonna rust, and I'll be pretty upset.
