Ok what do you guys think between these 2 tires and size's. Hankook 255/75/17 or 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grappler G2 going on a 17x7 FX TRD wheel, 3inch Icon stage 3 with UCR. The 255 comes out just a hair over 32x10 and the 285 is closer to a 33x11.5 any thought or pics???

Well, the Terra Grappler is a heavy duty tire, way beyond the Hankook, if you're looking for more than aesthetics.

I think they make a 255/80r17 that would be a hair bigger. Although the tire selection may not be as good. Pizza cutter look good fromt the side but skinny from the front and back. 285's are much wider and still have a good side profile. Unless you're dealing with a ton of snow 285's the way to go imo.

Well i do mostly street and highway travel thats why an AT vs. A mud tire. But Yes aesthetics playing big roll nitto looks more aggressive, do you think it does?

Do the 285's rub? Does it matter if they are on original rims?

I understand the practical need for a AT over a mud tire. I like the Nitto G2's and I also like the KO2's for AT tires.

He's got a stage 3 icon listed and a lot of people run those rims with 285's. I'm sure it would not be hard to find an answer in the lift thread weather he needs spidertrax or not. With 285's he'll need some lift to fit em. I know the 275's are close without lift.

I would read a bunch of reviews for each and make sure they're worth the savings. The only thing i can speak to is that I've seen both tires in person and the KO2's have much deeper tread. The Nitto's look a little shallow. It makes me think they will wear out quicker or at least look worn quicker. But they still look good when new. I've seen some mixed and some good reviews for G2's, while I rarely see anyone regret the KO2's. Another cheap option would be General Grabber AT'2. They look very similar to the original KO's, have deep trad, good snow rating, look and ride pretty good, and are relatively cheap. Just another option if you're trying to keep cost down.

BF Goodrich have a retro look that will always look good on a Tacoma. White letters in or out.

Was also considering those wheels with a 255 tire, though probably 70 series. Your mpg will not suffer with 255 like it would with a 285 and the 255 is better for off-road except for deep sand.

I thought it was the diameter that affects mpg's
