    Is that a better choice than the vacuum hose shown in the string that jimig shows? Looks like that comes off the throttle body.

    i think either would work well....but i think brake booster would work a lil better as it would be dispersed everywhere.

    Query: Is there any proof this stuff isn't snake oil? Like, test results showing improvement, or a before/after engine teardown showing cleaning effects?

    im not sure of any although....you can check bitog.com....im sure they have done plenty there.

    me personally.....i know how its helped with small engines i have worked on...and how my truck idles better/smoother and mileage increases after i have used it. thats good enough for me.

    cool. just be sure to go by the instructions......dont wanna hydrolock the motor. although, when i have done it, i dont add any to the oil....i always use a lil over a 3rd thru the brake booster, and the rest in the tank.

    It's only good for 2 stroke motors. Not good for Tacos. Just think what it does to the cats and O2 sensors. I would not be surprised if it caused a CEL. Not me. No sir.

    I'm hesitant to believe this stuff does anything meaningful myself. If it did, Toyota would develop a product themselves that does it and put it in as part of their service schedules.

    sure, it CAN be bad........if you use too much of it too often. running seafoam thru the brake booster line about every 20 or 30k miles aint gonna hurt anything. i have used it since i had an old 88 buick century....never have had any probs with it.

    they already do.....its called "top engine cleaning system"........and its about $150...............so i'll gladly pay $9 for a can and do it myself.....which is doing the same damn thing they are doing...for alot cheaper.

    Welcome to being way off base- I doubt they would advertise it for use in pretty much ANY engine you can think of if it caused CELs or damage as regularly as you seem to believe it will.

    Can it?? Yes...It will eat a cat in about a week- IF you do it wrong.

    As far as measurable gains- I had about a 1 mpg gain using it on a 65K scion engine with no prior tune ups. I haven't used it on my Taco.

    Depending on the vacuum line you use, it might only feed one or two cylinders. The brake booster feeds straight into the intake manifold, just take a look at it. Then, it'll be dispersed through all cylinders and will clean everything up. I've heard some people that are leary of it, some swear by it. It's up to you.

    I haven't a clue, so will say none.
    I have used Seafoam for years in all my tools and toys. Mainly as a fuel conditioner/stabilizer for when they might set up for a long time, like the log splitter.

    Use it in the recommended ratios and you shouldn't have any problems.

    This is the first I have heard of running it through a vacuum line. Will check that out more.

    Oh,,, get it at WalMart. Lot cheaper.

    I can understand people being skeptical about it, but it really does work. I got an old (79) honda motorcycle that had seen better days. After 2 months of restoration/rebuilding it still didn't run very smooth. The carbs had some build-up that I could reach to clean out, but after 2 tanks of seafoam the old girl smoothed out and started running great. After a treatment of seafoam for my 01, the mpg did go up and it had a little better acceleration. I'd hesitate to put it in the oil though, again based on my experiences with motorcycles. If its an older engine, putting any kind of "oil cleaner" in might possible dislodge some build-up and clog an oil passage. IMO the best way to clean your oil is just change it more frequently.

    I did it his afternoon, exactly like the threads said. I bought this truck 3 months ago and it felt like I was driving a 4cyl (no muzzle punch implied) but now WOW I have a 6cyl again great acc, idle and shifting is great now I'll have to wait to see if it did anything to my milage. Thanks Guy's and Gal's:woot:

    I tried removing the intake hose so I could spray the Seafoam directly into the TB. I wasn't thinking about the MAF sensor...The dang truck kept dying on me before I could get to the engine bay! SO...I pulled the brake booster hose (the hose ID'd by others in the threads) and filled a cleaned baby food jar 3/4 full of Seafoam (that is all I had left) and let the BB hose slowly suck it up. The thought of sticking the hose in the fluid to let the truck stall out on it gives me the heebee geebees (sp?) so I let it pull in the Seafoam slowly. It didn't smoke too bad, maybe b/c I used a smaller amount in a slower method. I haven't driven it very far since I have done that. I'll let you know if I notice a difference. I also re-installed the elbow-mod since I also have the deckplate mod. I just wanted to see if there would be a difference in MPGs...you know, for S and Gs...
