    What the hell is going on in our country? If you take a test to promote and you pass, you should get promoted, no questions asked. If you take a test to promote and fail, you try again next time. Why the hell did they throw out the test because not enough minorities passed. If your not qualified for the job, you dont get the job. Why are the black firefighters fighting? This drives me nuts :mad:

    yep that is stupid but they might have something where a certain amount of minorities have to promoted in order for the positions to open up. for example if you open 4 positions, 25% has to be females or you can't make the positions available. I know it's stupid but they probably have something like that happening.

    Ya I understand that. We have stuff like that too, I just think it is dumb, especially because there is a black firefighter suing because "he was unfairly denied a promotion" Sorry had to rant :p

    Without knowing all the details, its kinda hard to make an asumption. If he was denied simply because he didnt pass the test, then this will be brought to light in court. If in fact something else was the issue, it too, will be brought to light.

    I am just curious what happened to everyone being equal? What gets under my skin is everyone is supposed to be equal, so why is it that we have to hire a certain amount of a minority? If you get the job because you are black, mexican, a female etc. you are ok with it even though it is discrimination. Yet if you dont get the job because you are black, mexican, female etc. you are not ok with it because its discrimination. This "free" country gets to me :goingcrazy:
