    hi,
I got all season and carpet mats with my truck. The all season appear decent. Yet, I see a lot of people saying one of their best upgrades was new mats - Weathertec etc.
are they really that much better than the OEM and if so, why?

Because weather techs go up the side so you don't cover the carpet in mud

I have the Weather Techs, they fit great. Provide far better protection than the OEM mats. If nothing else they will aid in resale value.

In my opinion it depends on where you live and what you do with your truck. When I lived in Colorado and was doing a ton of snowboarding, backpacking, hiking, camping, etc. and dealing with the Colorado winters and muddy season in the Spring up in the mountains I had WeatherTechs in my Subaru and they were awesome. Now I live in the Bay Area and don't deal with the snow, etc. as often and the OEM Toyota all-weather mats are fine, and I have the 'first get' ones that do not cover as much. I'm totally fine with them and prefer to keep that money in my pocket instead of shelling out for something that essentially accomplishes the same thing as the ones in there are doing based on my uses and needs. You're needs and uses may be different.

I bought the WeatherTech mats and the driver's side does not work with manual/clutch. Had to cut a piece out. Beware.

IF you will let WT know, I bet they will look into redesigning them.

Maybe, husky said they will not be releasing x act for manuals because the demand for them is so low.

If you have the updated weather mats from Toyota, I would just keep them. They are pretty good and your not gaining much from going to Weathertechs or Husky.

My experience with WT has been mud guards, and they have been great.

Well, I didn't really upgrade in the since that I didn't pay for the factory mats in the first place. I took delivery knowing I was going to get the Husky x-act fits. That being said, I can't compare them to the factory mats but they are spectacular.

That's what I was thinking. The design looks decent, they cover right to the edges of floor and have deep groves and a decent edge channel.

Those look much better than what came in the 2nd gens. I had weathertechs in the 13 and xact fits now. Xact fits are the best but if those are what I had to start with, I wouldn't pay to upgrade.

They look like the type of all weathers I had in my previous car OEM. Had my taco come with those (or available to buy) I probably wouldn't have gotten the huskys. That said, the huskys have been great for me
