So I'm in a bit of a pickle. This last summer I was hard headed and stubborn and ended up buying a procomp 6 inch lift. I did the 3 inch lift on my Tacoma and so my dad and I ended up tackling the 6 inch lift. With 4x4 we cut the crossmember and everything pretty much went as planned. just had some minor dust cover rubbing from the new knuckles and a driveline shutter that I eventually evened out. Other than putting 35s on my truck and making it a slug by not re-gearing is the only real issue I've had so far. But now the time has come for a big trip. Over this upcoming summer I'll be driving out west and I would like to be able to camp in the taco along the way rather than going in my girlfriends Corolla -_- but I can't afford getting 14 mpg the whole way from Virginia. Has anyone ever tried to go back from a 6 inch lift to 3? And I know it's possible with some good welding but I was wondering if anyone has ever tried a bolt on crossmember with extremely high grade bolts through the Frame. Overall I'm torn. I know the easiest way to go would be selling my truck and going back to a stock one but I'm pretty attached. Someone help

Just pjt smaller tires on it for the trip, it will look stupid but youll have proper milage. And you could bring the bigger ones with you if you wanna offroad while your there. Explain that to any1 making fun of the chicken legs and theyll understand

not trying to bash here, but if you cant afford a trip running 35" tires because of economy, why did you put them on in the first place?

Honestly because I got a super good deal on the rim/tire setup from Craigslist hahaha. I make 2-hr trips all the time and love them for around home at the beach and what not but not worth for me to drive cross country with them. Especially because they are pretty much bare now so if I did go back to a 3 inch lift I would buy some new tires as well. In general I would have to buy new tires for the trip. College problems

I was thinking that as well. I actually had my stock rims/32 inch tires on the 6 inch lift when I first had it done Hahahaha and I definitely had some chicken legs. But it honestly feels better driving with the 18s and 35s. it felt like the symmetry was really odd having the super small set up on the 6 inch lift so I'd rather find a way to go down overall

I would just run stock sizes for the trip seems the most practical vs reconstructive surgery

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
I don't see the pay off worth the headache honestly. But it has been done. If you're worrying about mpg you should probably just go to stocks then

    Take the Corolla...

You're going to spend more than you save by getting it upto 17 or so MPG. Still half price in gas to take the car.
