Just saw a white dc 2nd gen with silver stealth 6's out on Victoria lane in Aptos. Was checking out some open houses and my wife started looking at me funny when I got excited to see another truck with the same rims.

I want to start a less the 20 thread but I don't like talking with people my own age because no one knows anything
It has to say something about a group of people when I am considered the mature responsible one...

So I happend to click on one of the many third gen threads and they are talking about finding a shop to put on a bumper not a single one brought up the idea of doing it yourself. Now I get some people are less mechanically inclined or have the resources to send it out or have some disability preventing them from doing the work them self I don't know other peoples stories or other peoples life
Now I'm not bashing on third gener's. But I'm the type of guy who likes doing the work on my truck for a few reasons.
    1. It is cheaper
    2. when I do the work I know exactly how the work was done and whether it was done properly or not I'm not saying it is always done correctly when I do it but I know what was done.
    3. My personal favorite reason is that when I do the work on the truck weather properly or not I LEARN. I get to learn the ins and outs of the parts I'm working with learning where something can go wrong or why something has the potential of failure.

It might be the river guide in me knowing what is on the raft or what is/needs to be secured or the inner survivalist knowing how to prepare. I just feel more comfortable doing the work knowing what is on my truck

That is my rant for the week Im wondering how many others here agree?

Either people don't have the time or just simply don't want to learn. I love building my truckhands on. I've learned so much.

If I had to pay someone to do all the work I did to my 4Runner I would have only been able to afford wheels and tires. Obviously it is easier to drop the truck off but I have no budget for someone to work on my truck. Only thing I ever paid for was alignments (tempted to learn myself) and tires.

I totally agree. Although there are some moments, when driving relatively fast on freeway, when I think, "Oh shit! Did I torque everything correctly? Did I forget anything? What the fuck is that noise? We're all going to die!"
When I got the alignment done, I told the tech that I installed everything and asked him to give the truck a "once- over". Helped to ease my mind.
