You can drive without rear shocks. Handling and comfort will be sacrificed. That being said, rear shocks aren't technically needed.

image.jpg Took my LCA back off and repressed the bushings. Then put about 6 heavy tacks a piece. Put it all back together and boo yeah! Not a single pop all freakin day long. Done deal. Not dealing with it no more.image.jpg

I still have no clunk at all, but I was also wondering if I loose axle nut could cause this as well? Since my Driver's side was most obvious, ans was completely taken apart for the ECGS Bearing. I was wondering if it was torqued to the proper 173 ft lbs. Just an idea gents

Some of my local Taco peeps. They did a bang up job and like I said I don't have the clunk anymore. But going over all the torquing I have done and the torque sheet. I saw axle nut and thought just maybe some people might look there.

Got ya ! I'm not sure what mine is torqued down to because my torque wrench maxes out at 120 I believe. But it defiantly would be something to check.

I had that thought too before I fixed my front end clunk.

Now I'm on to the rear. Start to think its the rear shock. It does contact the lower shock mount. I think my 2014 came with a 2015 rear axle =[.

Disconnected the tops of the rear shocks and drove around the neighborhood, making some off-camber turns. Clunk was still there. Don't think the clunk is shock related.

Only way I can think of to definitively tell if it's the leaf springs is to swap back the OEM leaf springs and OEM rear shocks and take it for a nose-high test drive.

Are the OME rear shocks too tall (when compressed) to throw on the OEM leaf springs and test drive? Will the shocks bottom out too easily?

Ok, we're back to the leaf springs. Here's the latest (will also add to the OP)...

After disconnecting the rear shocks and still getting the clunk, I turned back to the leaf springs. Looked at the rear bushing and there was MAYBE 1-2MM of space on either side between the leaf and the "shoulder" on the bushing. I have OEM Toyota bushings on the rears, BTW. Got a pry bar in there and I was able to shift the leaf side to side given that gap. No clunk, though.

What the hell...I pulled the driver's side leaf spring (since that's where the clunk is loudest) and replaced the rear spring bushing (not the shackle bushing...that one is STUUUUCK) with the Energy Suspension one. Put it all back together and went for a test drive. NO CLUNK from the driver's side!

Passenger side had less of a gap than the driver's side, but still moved. During the test drive I heard a clunk on the passenger side, quieter and less harsh than the driver's one from before. Going to replace front/rear leaf spring bushings on the passenger side. Fingers crossed that that's all the clunks!

Thanks, man. I just did a test drive to get gas and return the ball joint press I rented...

    NOT. A. SINGLE. CLUNK.

Boom! Rear leaf spring bushings were too wide for the Dakars, allowing them to shift when the axle moved laterally and bang against the shackle. I'll update the OP tomorrow night is everything is still smooth and quiet.

Nice. I know that feels great. I just finished installing the ES body mounts all around and no dice. Still rattling and knocking up front over low speed bumps. I'm pretty sure now it's the shock tower like you show. I will get the ES shock buffers on later this week and post back...

Hell yeah! Glad you figured it out. To bad it took so long to find it though. That's funny that you was able to find and fix yours the day after I did mine.

P.s. Two days without a pop on my truck, :amen::burnrubber::cheers:

1 day, 2 days, 3 days clunk free. It's like AA for suspension noise, haha.

Thanks for everyone's input/suggestions in this thread. I think we threw out enough ideas to help other folks in the future. Feel free to keep it going, like those of you adding the ES shock buffers.
