Paracord "Oh shit" handles [Tut]

This was the in process pic from Saturday night, just did the top hoop of the steering where on my 3rd gen 4Runner.
I kept the knots inside the ring, I like the way it feels so far. Need to see how the wife likes it. Getting it tight is tough on the hands and fingers.

 

I had terrible blisters. But I did mine in 150 foot strand. It turned out super tight and feels wayyyy better. I will do this on all my vehicles.

 

Bump. Anyone else done this since? I'd like to see some more pics.

Cashort, I'd be interested if you could describe just what attributes make it feel so much better- for example, does it give a"grippier" feel, do you like the increase in diameter to better fit your hand, perhaps something else??

(As a useless aside, based on the illustration in post #9, the basic wrapping technique appears to be what was referred to as "whipping the bitter end of a line", necessary to prevent the ends from unraveling. A handy nautical skill.)

 

I ended up using a pair of needle nose to cinch it up as I went. It saved my fingers from blisters..

 

Yeah, I beat my hands up. Haha.

I know this is an old thread, but I saw this and thought I gotta try this. Well, I wrapped my handles in orange because my interior lights are all orange and it happens to be my favorite color! Not the best pic, but it'll do

Ahh I really like the orange and the blue.. I did mine in black but now I envy your colors

How long did it take you guys to do one handle?

 

If you do it right, the first handle about 30-40 minutes until you get it down

 

OK I'll play the noob - What is a good source for paracord?
