I get the idea of that location for carry for some as it sits better. I will always carry SOB or right hip @ 4 o'clock w/about 18 degree Kant....

I guess also depends on how you treat the location as a very sensitive zone....

My defensive combat instructer won't let anyone train with a gun in that location and highly discourages that location as a carry point....

Same here with the reholster, and with a sa/da revolver, the hammer cannot come back due to my stomache. I mean i guess it could but i would be impaled severly in the abdomen plus id be missing part of a nad, and thigh wound, and i would hate to know just what the cylinder gap gas escape would do. But i cant see it going off holstered there.

Dunno about Hydrashoks but Speer Gold Dots supposedly have more reliable expansion in the 165gr flavor

Hmm good to know. I just bought a pack of 20 so not that much of a loss. I'll look into Speer Gold Dots though for sure

Man i like those hydroshock in my .327 but its inly available in reduced recoil 85 gr. So i just shoot full power 100 gr soft points now and the soft points are alot cheaper and mushroom quite well at 1500 fps anway

That is the position I carry at but with a very rigid kydex holster. I find it comfortable all day no matter what I am doing.

I have an aliengear holster that rides at 3 to 5 o'clock and I have not touched it since getting my Zorn aiwb holster. With the aliengear my shirt would always ride up and get caught between the grip and my back exposing that i was carrying. Unless i had a jacket on but living in the valley of the sun I rarely need a jacket.

I will reholster it but i pull my shirt clear out of the way and visually check to make sure nothing can catch and slide the pistol gently in place. Once its locked in its good.

I'm just curious but why not? Its a very easy location to defend against somebody taking your firearm and easy to draw while keeping your arms in front.

Anyone have any experience with this ammo? The tech behind it seems practical (but of course they all do). Watched a few youtube reviews with ballistic gel and one these coming out of a large cal AR looks impressive.

Put a magpul k2 grip on my AR pistol today in prep for my stamp coming in (submitted 1 month, 3 weeks ago, hopefully about halfway through the wait).

There is not enough room in there for anything else as I carry big equipment in that location already...

In all reality I have trained for years with my gun on strong side between 3/4 o'clock and for the past 15 years all the instructors I have trained with have said no way. Never let the muzzle cover or point at anything you are not willing to destroy but I guess it is all preference to location plus i'm 6'3 250 lbs so seated for me is somewhat a discomfort.

literally everywhere you carry concealed, when you draw at least, you are going to sweep something you don't mean to shoot. 3-5 o'clock your going to sweep either your leg or everyone to your strong side, cross-draw (both iwb and with a torso holster) will also sweep everyone on you weak side, and ankle holster is obviously always pointing at your foot. the only carry option for not having it point at anything but the ground and the bad guy is owb just like a LEO.

I'm not here to get into a pissing contest on preferred carry locations, but a perforated butt cheek is much better than a Femoral artery or my vital equipment. Most of the time I am carrying a full size 1911 cocked and locked or a Glock 19 and I prefer to have the discharge end of the weapon 90-100% away from my body.

I don't have any experience with this ammo but a buddy of mine swears by this now. I have seen the ballistic gel test reports and they do look impressive. I am just not sold on it yet as I will stick with TAC-XPD ammunition...

    Yup.

If your gun is going to go off when you draw it, I'd rather it go off into my fat ass than anywhere else.

Of course, there is a way around having it happen...

I remember about a year ago I was in a low light Self-defense tactics class and when the instructor (retired 1st SFOD-D) reviewed the tape if your finger was on the trigger you were done gone see ya!!! There is no real definitive answer on how it will turn out in a very high tense situation from someone that has some training vs a person that just carries a gun and thinks they can use it in that situation for protection.

Got a letter from Dept. of Public Safety today. They reminded me my CCW is going to expire in a few months. All I need to do is send them the enclosed form and $42. They also mentioned even though we are constitutional carry I can continue to reap the benefits of reciprocity and not having to go through background checks for firearm purchases.

    I love free states.

Just ran across this on a local forum, if you need a backstop this would work great.
