My rack arrived yesterday and I'm planning on installing it over the weekend and I had a couple of questions. Is it absolutely necessary to make holes and reuse the weather striping? I ask because it occurred to me that if and when I sell my truck it might be a good idea to have them intact so I can sell the truck and the rack separately. Thanks.

I plan to never sell my Tacoma but that's just me. You don't have to reuse the weather stripping and I know some people who have not. If you reuse it with the rack you have to punch holes in it or cut to fit I between the mounting points.

I want to order the 5/16 Cabrack and the 5/15 Toprack (6ft) for my 09 LBDC Tacoma (TRD Sport). My Leer shell does not have rack rails. I have some Yakima rails (
Yakima Control Tower Tracks with Bolts - 60in)
on order, but want to know what the spacing needs to be for the Toprack. Does anyone know the width of the rack from bolt hole to bolt hole? Should I just bolt to the shell, or are the rails the best way to go? I'm am mechanically inclined, so should I do the install, or have the local shop do it? Any advise on installing the rails?

I want to order the racks with custom powder coat sides (silver streak mica) to match the body and black cross bars. How many cross bars come with each rack?

I have also tried to call multiple times this week and have not gotten a response from Prinsu / Zach. What is the best way to contact?

Well I installed it yesterday morning, took about an hour by myself. No drama at all and it looks great. I'm playing with the deflector position to see how quite I can get it , but honestly it doesn't make that much noise and I drove all over town yesterday. It rained today and I had no leaks. I think I'm going to go ahead and get the punch set and reinstall the rubber strips just to make it look more finished. Overall I'm very pleased with product and I would definitely recommend this rack to anyone. In fact I'm working talking the wife into the 3/4 rack for our '15 T4R. Thanks Zach for a great product and a great experience.

The topracs are adjustable from 6in all the way out to 42in. Zach recommends tracks are installed on the canopy at 36-40in from center.

I don't have one yet, but the install looks fairly easy. The feet mount in the track and then the rack bolts to them. You can adjust it out to sit correctly with the CabRac.

I called and left VM last week. Then tried to TXT. eMailed via website on Friday. I'll let it marinate for a few days before I bug him again. Wish I had know about the group buy so I could have gotten in on it.

Thanks for the answer to my questions Spixelz. Just to clarify, that is 18 to 20 in from center line, so tracks are 36 to 40 in apart parallel. My Leer has the thick (cardboard) top, so I believe that I want to mount outside of this area.

I'm headed out to CA from CO next weekend with the fam. Was hoping to have more info. I think I'll mount the tracks to spec (hope Zach gets back to me this week) and then gheto a pair of 2x4's to the roof so I can haul SUP's and surfboards around in CA. Then get the racks on order.

Definitely steer away from the honey comb area. Your measurements sound good. Just as long as they are 36-40in apart. Mine are at 42in apart and will still be fine.

Why is the honeycomb area a no-fly zone? I have my tracks mounted on the thick part of my cap, which I presume to be the honeycomb. Am I missing something here?

My tracks came installed in the honeycomb area from the factory on both shells I've owned. One Snugtop and one Leer.

My cap may be different but I have two bulged areas inside. My local installer just said it is better to stay away from it. Not sure why but there is still plenty of room to go to install on either side of them.

From my research, the bulged area is mostly made up of a cardboard honeycomb. It adds rigidity to the top, but is not load bearing. The interior is not supposed to be exposed to water. I would not bolt through this, which is why it is advised to stay away from that area. If installed using plus nuts (expanding rivet nuts) then I'm sure that it is fine. As I will be doing the install myself, I will be through bolting and avoiding this area.
