Rebel XS suggestions?

Just bought a new Rebel XS for my father as an xmas present. He currently has an EOS 750 with a couple lenses. I decided it was time to shoot him into the 21st century so I pulled the trigger on the XS since it seemed like just the camera for what he would be using it for. I ended up getting a 8gb SD card for him, he can use his old day bag, a polarized and UV lens, and I think that's about it for now. I'm probably going to get him a 16GB ultra SD before its all set and done. The lenses he is using are a Canon EF 70-210mm 1:4, Canon EF 28-80mm 1:3.5-5.6 Ultrasonic, and a Cannon EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 (came with the new camera)

I cant really think of anything else that he would need/want at the moment and I'm not too familiar with anything that has to do with photography, I just know that he enjoys photography, but has lost touch with it recently due to the PITA it can be to develop 35mm film, and of course, the cost involved. If anyone has any suggestions on anything I'm missing or he might enjoy to have with the new camera, feel free to fill me in. I would enjoy to hear some different perspectives on the Rebel XS if anyone is familiar with them too.

 

If he was once a serious enough photographer to have his own dark room, I'm guessing that he already has most of the things he needs. I might suggest an image editing software like Photoshop Elements or Lightroom (each under $100). Most pictures don't turn out 100% straight out of the camera. An additional battery might be nice too.

 

I should have phrased that a little differently, he did not develop his own film, but rather had it developed professionally. But it is just a pain compared to loading up your pictures onto the computer. Good point though on Photoshop Elements or Lightroom.
