20160312_190150.jpg Hey guys I need some help. I recently bought a 07 TRD and on the passenger side I can't get my halo parking lights to burn. These are the double halo style and both on that side are out. I can't understand if they just burnt out, why did they both go at the same time. I have checked voltage and I've got power to the back of the headlight where they tied in. I even run a hot wire from the battery along with a ground and still can't get em to burn. I don't know what else to try. Is there something inside the light itself to look for? Can they be replaced? I'm about ready to jerk them out and go another route:frusty:. I would appreciate any help you guys have on this :help:

Hate to say this but it probably means you have a cold solder joint in the LED strip that is in the halo. Since they are usually powered in series, that's the reason they both went out at the same time. It's not an uncommon way for lights to fail.

Unfortunately, you'll have to disassemble the light fixture to get at the LED strips to find the failed joint. Good luck with that. LEDs don't burn out but can be sloppily assembled.

Looks like you can either disconnect the halos on the other side to make the look uniform, fix the cold solder joint, or look for new headlights.

Thanks mrkabc, that's what I was looking for. Do you know if there is any write ups anywhere on how to disassemble one of these to do this? I like the look and really don't have the money right now to replace

Ahhhh none that I'm aware of. .. since these are aftermarket headlights you won't find that type of support here. Would be curious to know if you can access the halos from the back of the headlight - it may very well be a small cover held in by screws. Can you post pix of the back of the headlight?

Here's about the best of a picture I can get at the angle. Can't really see any access except for the holes where the projector lights are located.

    Thanks for the pic!

Am I correct in assuming the black and white wires at the top of the fixture is what runs your halos?

Actually the top black and white wires are for the led light bar above the projector lights. I believe the black and white wires that come out the bottom are for the halos

Yeah the hot wire and ground go into a plain black looking box and then it branches out into 2 hots and 2 grounds, I'm assuming for both halos....?????

oh my F**k you got boned by previous owner with terribly shitty install

invest in a multimeter and work your way through that wiring

my best recommendation is try to find OEM units from junkyards and ditch that aftermarket baloney
but with a multimeter you may be able to figure out what in that mess is not connected correctly

Those twist on house eletrical connectors though..... lol

But yes, a multimeter will help in this case

Those black boxes that the wires are coming out of ( the one I circled in the last picture) What is that?? Is that a resistor? Could that be the problem? I'll try to post a better picture this evening when I get off work

It's not the best picture I know but I circled it in the last picture in blue (towards the bottom). The wires which I believe are for the halos run through this before going inside the headlight. ???? I have no idea

Yes, the halos require that little black box for it to work. I would try and switch sides to see if it's the problem or not

Problem is on mine it doesn't have connections. I would have to cut and splice every wire. Do you know the actual name for the piece and where to find one?

unless it is branded somewhere, it is generic junk and you probably won't be able to match it up

you are at risk as long as those cruddy assemblies are in the vehicle

should negotiate somewhere with someone and get OEM installed IMHO

The problem is you bought prefabricated after market headlights. Those are always garbage and the halos are usually dull and or they burn out after a few months
    Sorry mate:/

Yeah well like I said the guy I bought the truck from had them installed and I'm stuck with this nightmare and I really don't have the cash laying around right now to buy a new set. Guess I'm just stuck with them like this for awhile. I appreciate everyone's input
