on your 2nd Gen tacoma and when (if) did you start modding?

I currently owe about 22-23k on my 2015 with about 8000 on the odometer. In the next couple months ill be upgrading the suspension, wheels, and tires all at the same time, mainly because I plan on keeping it for the long haul. I am curious how some of you feel about modding before its paid off.

Pay off, then mod - but, who cares, you have already stated what you going to do

Exact same. I'm going to wait until I'm on the tail end of my factory warranty before I begin to mod the suspension. Probably wait until I hit around 20,000 miles on her which'll give me 5,000 miles to work out any kinks.

I've already added a few "bolt-ons" (skid plate, wheels, step bars, window tint, light pods, floor mats, etc.)

About 19.5k and I've been a modding fool since week 2. Thanks TW. Seriously though, I'm never in danger of missing a payment and my APR is very low. If I can enjoy my investment more with a new mod I jump on it.

Blah....I didn't wait to mod. I drive so much my factory warranty only lasted a year and half anyway. So I modded at will. I also paid it off quickly (not as fast as some other guys on here, but as fast as I could (1.5 years), :)

2.45% on 75 months. Odd I know. I qualified for 3.49 through my bank on 72 mo which was the top tier and best they offered. The Toyota finance guy found us 2.45 but it had to be 75 mo

haha i did the same exact thing (2.44 @ 75 months)! Weird lol. I did the 75 months to get the lowest payment and so i could throw more towards principle every month.

Truck has been paid off for years. I have a 2005. First mod was the suspension NOV 2014. After and up until recently, I have been replacing mechanical parts. Now that that is done, I have added a canopy top, upgraded brakes & rotors and the ARB bumper is in the mail. Sure, it's 10 years old but I decided that no one else will own that truck. She's a keeper and soon enough will be the perfect setup (in my eyes). When it's time for something newer I'll get a fun car to drive (E55 wagon) and keep the truck for when I need it.
Don't spend too much if you're not sure you're keeping it for a long time would be my advice. Then again, I see guys trade in 2 year old trucks with so much added to it there is no way any of that money comes back. Don't add to your debt if you don't need to. Want to spend some money....pay down the loan sooner.
What ever your decision, you will have fun making the truck better than it is now.

Fully paid off and started purchasing parts before I even took ownership (Redline hood struts). I've been addicted ever since!
